• Yes, they should care about people.

    It shouldn't be just sell, sell, sell, no matter what. Tricky marketing techniques that manipulate people into buying something should not be used. Especially if it's something potentially harmful, like credit cards. Students are one category of people particularly vulnerable to these credit cards offers they're bombarded with. They get themselves deep into debt they can't pay off for years, if ever. This shouldn't be done.

    True, it's good to be socially conscious in many circumstances, but if you're marketing a product your only concern should be whether or not your marketing strategy achieves the goal of honestly but effectively moving your product. If anything, you need to leave social commentary out of it if you're marketing, especially if your commentary is negative.
