Should minority party be allowed to take special actions during times of of when the majority party holds overwhelming power?

  • A goverment should listen to it's people

If the majority government is making policies that the people are vocally against, then then there should be a way for the minority governments to step in and prevent it from happening. If a government is not listening to it's people, then it is not doing it's job correctly and there should be steps in place to moderate this.

  • No, I don`t think so.

The minority power should spend their time between elections trying to get ready for the next election. There should not be any provision to allow a minority party to take action when they do not have the authority to do it. They should spend their time advocating for their proposals to redress the actions of the majority.

  • They have to have support.

There should not be any provision to allow a minority party to take action when they do not have the authority to do it. If that were the case, very fringe sectors would be able to control society. It makes much more sense to govern by consensus where the person acting has to have support.

  • The minority power should spend their time between elections trying to get ready for the next election

Minority parties should not spend their time in the minority trying to obstruct the other side. They should spend their time advocating for their proposals to redress the actions of the majority. As is with human nature, the majority party will over reach and so long as the minority party properly capitalizes on the overreach, they can find a way back a the ballot box.
