  • Yes yes ys

As a former student athlete, you not only completely break down your body, but are up by 5 or 6 daily, and home by 8. While some people may argue that free school is suffice payment, have y'all not seen the amount of revenue the institutions as well as the NCAA brings in because of student athletes? We're talking a multi billion dollar business, whereas the student athletes who bring in the money are getting stipends that barely cover paying the rent? (If that, even). After that's all said and done, if you have school to tend to and aren't able to eat during the 1-2 hour meal times provided, you're going hungry because you don't have any cash in your pocket and by NCAA law you're not allowed to work. It's not fair to the athletes whatsoever. I don't think it would hurt the school to give the athletes a couple thousand a month, due to the fact that without them there would be no money at all

  • They should get paid for playing.

They are on TV and it could lead them to a football career. They should at least get paid two thousand to five thousand dollars for being on TV and having fans and their own stadium to play in. The pros get money for being on TV, why not the college students?

  • Education is more important

Only about 2% of college football players go pro. Even less actually make the final roster. Even less play for more than a season or two. After their professional career what will they do to provide for themselves and their family? To pay college athletes takes away from the real reason they are in school and deters them from getting good grades. Student athletes need to get degrees to support their futures.

  • Already Paid Scholarships

College athletes are already paid in many levels of the sport. Colleges and universities give them tuition, room and board in return for years of playing sports for the institution. With that degree, college athletes earn more money in the long run. A select few turn professional. However, at the end of one's eligibility, a degree is the way an athlete earns money over the course of his or her life after college.

  • Do not pay student athletes

Players are not professional athletes and are students. Sports at colleges are no different than a sorority/fraternity, clubs, etc. The main focus should be on education and learning the reasons why colleges exist to teach. Value should be placed on learning and not playing sports. It's okay to play sports like with any other extracurricular activity, however it should be treated as such.

  • No NCAA athletes should not be paid to play sports

Sports, although at the collegiate level, are still school sports. To play sports at any institution of learning is a privilege that if one is fortunate enough will allow them to hone and showcase their skills, possibly providing for the opportunity to enter into the professional sports arena, thus earning them a professional athlete’s salary.

  • Then Pay Other Collegiate Groups

If we're going to pay sports players, then pay other collegiate groups too. Other students work just as hard, if not harder, in college. To pay college sports players just shows that we don't value those who educate themselves for the community and the good of others as much. Professional players are already getting paid way too much compared to teachers, social workers, and the like, who bust their butts for the good of others when players are basically entertaining. The world is so backwards.

  • No, college athletes should not be paid to play.

College athletes should not be paid to play the sport of their choice. In many cases, they are already being paid, in the form of a free or greatly reduced college education. If they receive a salary, then members of the school paper should be paid also. Along with members of various other clubs. If they want to get paid to play, they'll need to go pro!

  • NCAA Athletes Should Not Be Paid

NCAA athletes should not be paid to play college sports. Many of them already get free rides to the schools they attend. What else do they need? It would be very hard to determine how much to pay players as well. It would lead to NCAA asking for more money and that would come out of the school and other programs' pockets.
