  • Put them to better causes.

Older computers should be forced off of the market entirely and trashed if they do not meet the requirements necessary to parse and process the modern standardization of Office Open XML. This is because we need the most updated computer equipment in business. But older computers should be donated to charity so that they can still do good for others.

  • No, Some people can't afford new computers

No because believe it or not there are people who can't afford a new computer. It is either
because they are living on a fixed income, or they don't want to learn the new software on a new computer. If the computer still works it should be kept with ease of use for that person.

  • No older computers should not be "forced" off of the market entirely.

No there should not be any coordinated effort to "forced" older computer completely off of the market. In many third-world and developing countries these older computers are the ONLY computing hardware available and the ONLY connection to the Internet. As resources become available these older computers will be upgraded compliant models for the standards of Office Open XML.

  • No, they can still be used.

No, older computers can still be fun to use for those who enjoyed them, or want to play older games or use older applications that are no longer around. They could also be collectors items one day, if they aren't already. Some people like to keep things like that around - like how some people like having an original NES game system.
