Should parents buy toys for their children that glorify war?

  • War toys are awesome!

Playing with these toys helps children to learn to play with their imagination. It also teaches them the difference between playing and having fun from reality. War toys along with every other toy is tested for safety and durability and they have to match up to these expected standards. It is not the toy itself that is dangerous but the way you choose to use it.

  • Not hurting anything

I do not think that there is anything wrong with giving your child a toy that glorifies war, because to go to war and serve your country is a very heroic act. There is nothing wrong with teaching your child that you think heroes go to war and fight for us.

  • Yes, it is their decision

I think that parents should be able to buy their children toys that glorify war if they want to. It is their children and therefore they should be able to choose what they want their kids to play with. It is no one else's place to decide which toys are appropriate.

  • Yes, they should.

When children buy toys that glorify war, they are simply having fun. Wanting to charge bravely into battle is in our DNA, and it's okay to express it sometimes, harmlessly, through toys. This isn't going to be what causes children to become violent or aggressive. Genetics and circumstance and environment will.

  • Children should be kept away from violence.

Children's mentality is developing while aging, and while they're aging they are also learning and stay with what they learned at young age. Also, children tend to use what they know or have as a joke, and having toy weapons in their reach means there is a high possibility someone might get hurt.

  • Parents Buying Toys

I personally think that parents should not buy toys for their children that glorify war because it can affect the child in the long run. I personally think that parents should not buy toys for their children that glorify war because it can harm and shock the chilld as well as scaring the child.

  • No, toys that glorify war only desensitize children to actual dangers.

No, parents should not buy their children toys that glorify war as it only works negatively upon their fragile minds. Children are susceptible and see fun in many things and if they are given toys that glorify war then there is a large possibility they will become desensitized to the entire idea of war. With the advent of gaming and movies that revolve around war, many kids see war as "cool" and "vengeful" without taking into consideration the money, resources, and lives lost during them. Many children grow up thinking and feeling like war is a common thing and that "we are better than everyone else" due to these toys and lack real insight to what horrors actual wars bring.
