There are some cases where people should be willing to sacrifice their ideas for the sake of compromise. Because, as we all know, compromise is needed to arrive at a solution. Even if the solution isn't exactly the one you wanted. It's better to get part of what you want than nothing at all.
Some people are to sacrifice their ideas for the sake of compromise. But if they have a really good idea and they want to stand behind it I think that they should do their best to do so. Some people have lost to million dollar deals because they do not stand up and believe in their ideas and sacrifice and compromise and lose money because of it.
It is unreasonable to expect a large and diverse group of people to agree about everything. Yet, if these people want to take action as a group, compromise is necessary. Negotiation in good faith involves sacrifice from everyone. To an individual, action contrary to ideals may be distressing, but the alternatives are dictatorship or paralysis.
I believe people should be willing to sacrifice their ideas for the sake of compromise. There is no point in debating topics if people are unwilling to listen to reason or listen to other peoples perspectives. Compromise is vital for humanity to get along. Your views will not be correct every time.
How can one go with this vague of an idea? Is compromise always the answer in every case? No. There is no should. We live and die by our choices, and we have to have the freedom to stick to our ideals as we see fit. There is no should.
Compromise can often be 'we both lose'. And there are some things that, no matter what the compromise is, the ideals should not be compromised.
