Should people on terrorism watch lists be allowed to buy guns?

  • Yes if otherwise qualified people on the terrorism watch lists should be allowed to purchase firearms.

If a meets all the legal requirements to purchase a firearm being on a terrorism watch list should not be a disqualifying factor. The reason being there are NO standards for putting a name on anyone the five (5) watch lists kept by various federal government agencies. According to a recent GAO report more than 95% of the names on the lists are their in error. The bad thing is that there is NO procedure in place to correct these errors! As Senator John McCain (R-AZ), it took his office over 60 days to get his name off a TSA list!

  • Fix the lists!

I answer "yes" only because people have mistakenly ended up on terrorism watch lists when they have no connection to terrorism at all. Completely innocent people have ended up listed for having a similar name to a known terrorist. There are some people on these lists who have no connection to terrorism and should not have their rights restricted. Obviously, this does not apply to actual terrorists.

  • No they should not!

Terrorism is really serious. It is really heinous and giving people that commit these types of crimes guns is like endorsing more terror and trouble. They should be outlawed and banned for life from ever being near a gun. That is just too much temptation for them to go out and commit more terrorism acts. No!

  • Of course they should not!

If they are a possible problem, why would anyone allow them a gun to perhaps go shoot up a mall, or school. It is the same as giving the green flag to destroy. I personally don't think anyone should own a gun other than a policeman. However, since we do have the right to bear arms, we can at least keep a watchful eye out for possible terrorists.
