Pork barrel should be abolished because it gives certain people an unfair advantage and control over our political and domestic lifestyle that those who do not have enough money can affect. It allows the rich to get the things they seem fit and the poor to have to just accept the consequences.
Pork barrel legislation, which helps only a small area with funds designed to help the entire nation, is a drain on the tax dollars and financial resources of everyone. It is important, particularly in times of economic stress, to carefully allocate all funds to maximize the benefit to all, and pork barrel does the exact opposite. It is important, however, to abolish it in a way that does not affect legitimate programs that may send funds to one area, but benefit many, such as environmental and energy programs.
