Should pregnant female students be allowed to attend their high school classes?

  • They have a right to an education

Pregnant female high school students should be allowed to attend class. It is of the utmost importance to their future and their unborn children's future that they receive a good education. In fact, they should be encouraged to attend classes. Just because they are pregnant does not mean they should be shunned. There are many girls in high school who are sexually active, and just because the girls who happen to become pregnant have the evidence under their shirt, does not mean they should be treated any differently than all of the other students.

  • Teenage pregnancy should be allowed in school

I agree pregnant teenager girls would be discriminated and judged by school mates and also their family's reputation and theirs would be ruined, but who are we as human beings to judge and discriminate her when she is going through a lot and also not knowing them. Instead of discriminating, judging and also saying that teenager pregnant girls should not be allowed in school, we should allow them to go to school so that they can provide for their child's welfare and being but also achieve their dreams. They made a mistake but they hopefully will learn from it, also there is this proverb that says " Every cloud has a silver lining" meaning that even in difficult situations it is always possible to get through them, so let education be the silver lining for these pregnant teenager girls.

  • Just because they have an unborn child, doesn't male them incapable of going to school.

Students, pregnant or not, are capable of going to school. While there are some idiotic peers that are very careless about what happens to others, that is not a reason to not attend school. I'm not saying that students who are pregnant should put there unborn childs life in harms way, but I am simply saying that students should also be smart enough to remove themselves from any harmful situations. If curtain situations are to dangerous even after trying to take proper percaustions then they can be homeschooled, students should have the option to attend high school. High schools should also help provide the proper knowledge and protection for students so that the pregnancy rates of young teens goes down. There needs to be pregnancy informative classes as well as continuing Human Growth and Development classes. Schools should also not forbid the giving of condoms to students. Just because you provide your child with the proper protection (birth-control or condoms) doesn't mean that you're giving them full permission to have all the sex in the world. Us as students want the proper protection so we know that when we do engage in sexual contact we're protected. Therefore, if students do get pregnant they know that they did have the protection it just didn't work: it was them being irresponsible and careless. (Hint: You can tell your students or kids not to have sex but they'll do it sooner or later. If it happens to be sooner then as adults it our job to let them know the concequences and get them proper protecton.

  • Everyone deserves the right to an education.

Some disagreeing with this are saying that females who become pregnant should be home schooled. The problem with that is some students do not have access to being home schooled. Some students do not have parents who are able to home school them, or they do not have access to online classes. Also, people are saying "if you are old enough to participate in sexual activity, you're old enough to suffer the consequences." But it takes TWO people to have sex, why is the female in the relationship the only one who should suffer the consequences?? If you don't think that the female should be able to go to school for a full 9 months, then why does the boy get to? If a girl misses out on a whole year of school, she's missing very important information and learning opportunities and she's always going to be behind from that point on. Nobody should have to be behind all of their classmates because of one bad decision that they made. The girl will already have a hard life as it is with a new baby in the picture, why punish them more on top of that? You are just creating an even worse life for the girl and for the baby if you say that she should not be able to go to school while she is pregnant. If a girl wants to go to school while she is pregnant, she should be able to.

  • Yes they should

Its just one little mistake they did
and they should not have to be able to not graduate trust me they will regret what they did when the baby comes but for now they should just help them with their education i mean they are in school for a reason

  • Its extremely sexist to suspend the female, while the ma,e gets away

Why should the female have to be denied education while the male can continue living his life? Not to mention, we would be punishing them for reproducing, which is basically the whole point of life. Who cares if they are a little young? Plus, the girl probably won't be in on the few days around their due date, so the argument that they may go into labor is very flawed. Also, after they give birth, her parents can take care of them.

  • Life has changed full of challenges. Yes they should be given the right to get educated and be ale to support their unborn babies.

There is no one who is 100% perfect. Why should they be stigmatized? They are already faced with huge challenge so we need to drown them out by giving them the best thing which is education, everyday we learn. To fall once doesn't mean to fall for the entire life.Let them be educated and fulfil their dreams.

  • There's no reason they shouldn't be able to.

If she wants a education let her. Period. Let her try to succeed not just give up on everyone and everything around her. If she wants to become a mother let her get her education so she's not on the side of the street with her kid. Let her try.

  • Need to show bellies off

For older pregnant women, soon to be mom should see a different world than other moms and have fun with I while it lasts for 9 months 40 weeks 280 days pregnant teen should still have an education until the baby is born into this world and live its life

  • No. They are at higher risk for health issues

Students who are pregnant should consider home schooling during the term of their pregnancy. A 10th grader at my high school was kicked in the stomach and lost her baby. I would not entrust my unborn child's safety to careless hyper teens. I also do not believe it is the schools responsibility to look after the pregnant teens in case of pregnancy related health issues.

  • No they shdn't

As I was talking with my friend she told me that a friend had to read for the test which was going on in school ,, yet she was from an operation after giving birth ...Yet she was in great pain you cannot serve two masters at a ago as me Joyce nabagala I say no to that

  • They chose to involve themselves in sexual activities (except in a case of rape) so they have to suffer the consequences of having a child.

They chose to be involved (except in a case of rape) in adult activities so they would have to face the consequences of being involved in activities that they are not supposed to take part in. They need to realize that their time for child bearing will come later in life. They are inexperienced and not mentally prepared to such activities.

  • Well i do agree with what your saying so i willl suggest the same

The thing is you know right from wrong why would you put yourself in this position so suffer the consequences even though some young can be pregnant by rape
but yes they should remain in school because second chances were made to give its all about her not you let she learn from her mistakes

  • No they should not

I think they will not concentrate properly due to the fact that someone is inside of them growing which have alot of side effects that let them have to stop from school alot. And will cause them to be depressed and stress. Also their peers will make fun of them causing them to be sad and cast out.

  • No they should not be allowed...This thing affects not only the learner but others too

I'm not saying pregnant learners should be denied education, according to the country's constitution, everyone has a right to education, including the pregnant learners...From my perspective this learners should rather consider home studying during their pregnancy period. Being a learner at the same time pregnant, it doesn't only affect you,it affects people and things around you...It affects other learners, it affects your reputation it affects the schools reputation, just imagine 100 school girls pregnant in the same school, 100 of them were one would not understand if it is a school or a pregnant women house. The law states clearly that everyone a child, adult, an elderly, a girl or a boy have a right to education, which means no age restriction in getting education. In my language there is a say that says "thuto ga e golelwe", which means you will never be too old to get education. What I'm implying on is that this learners should not be allowed to come to school when pregnant and they should come after they have gave birth. The other thing is that, these people need high and special medical care. They are also exposed to high danger, imagine if she trips and fall over,if she tries to buy lunch at a school kiosk and someone pushes her by mistake,if the boys mistakenly hit her tummy with a ball while playing. Imagine if she gives birth at school in most cases Prematurely that will require her to get a serious medical attention,it will disturb ongoing lessons this will cause a chaos..So they rather stay home during there pregnancy period, there is no use of going to school were in every week you will be absent for a medical check up..Were you fall asleep in class and were you will feel sick everytime this will affect other learners too....They shouldn't be allowed to come to school because their situation affects the majority over the minority .

  • They have the right to finish school and have their education

1.) i think pregnant teens should NOT remain in school because of stress
2.) the persons from their school would discriminate them
3.) they can be a distraction to others:
e.G her water bag could be broken during a class session
her baby could kick while a teacher is in the class

  • Opposing side of this argument.

Teens who don't care about themselves and decide to get pregnant should not be allowed back into high school. Period. They should be considered a bad example and should be shipped back home - to learn online - and to ruminate about the error of their ways. They should not receive welfare, either. Not One Dime - unless they agree to become sterilized. That's only fair to society. To guarantee this mistake - that's right call it what it is - a mistake - doesn't ever happen again.

I think it is of paramount importance for female students to continue with their lessons whilst they are pregnant. If such students would be given another chance at school, this will help them understand the world better.Teachers and advisors will help them to realize their mistakes and help other non-pregnant students not to cope the same mistake.Depriving them off their education will result in them being drop-outs,resulting in unemployment.Thiswould be a great problem in their near future as such a person cannot go anywhere or do anything without a glimpse taste of education. So pregnant high school girls need a chance to complete their studies for the benefit of them and of their unborn babies
