  • If he has served his time.

John Hinckley was obviously an unstable person when he shot Ronald Reagan for Jodie Foster all because of the film Taxi Driver had a profound effect on him. If all of his time in prison has changed him as a person and he is ready to go back into the world and be a productive member of society then he should be set free. Ronald Reagan forgave him so I guess we can.

  • No, he should not.

He should continue to serve time. Murders do not deserve to be set free and should always be given a life sentence. All crime are created equal, and there is no nuance between one and the next. We should not debate about whether or not he has been rehabilitated, because people do not change.

  • No, he should not be set free.

John Hinckley Jr should spend the rest of his life in prison for his attempt on President Regan's life. Hinckley was fortunate that the secret service did not shoot and kill him during the assassination attempt. Anyone that attempts to shoot and kill another should spend the rest of their life in prison. Furthermore, Hinckley may turn out to still be a threat to society.

  • He is a danger.

I do not think that presidential assassin Hinckley Jr. should be set free. He has proven that he is incredibly mentally unstable, and I think that he is a danger to society. He needs to be kept in a mental treatment facility where he can be safe and others do not have the potential of being harmed by him.
