Should primary schools (middle schools) have elective subjects as well as compulsory ones ?

  • They should express themselves

Electives are a way for kids to express themselves. They can find what they enjoy doing, surround themselves with people who like what they like. They can find what they're good at and enjoy doing and can make that a career for them early on. So, electives aren't so bad.

  • Middle school students should be allowed to choose

Well I think so , it prepares students for high school and they can also decide which subject they like best.Perhaps they don't have a good understanding if a subject they can easily switch when they wish preventing bad grades for students. Not everyone is alike ,some students thrive in specific subjects while others find it hard. Choosing your subjects can also change your life ambition ,for example, you were going to go for an occupation involving a subject that totally doesn't suit you, then you can change your mind before its too late

  • Definitely, more variety!

I think we should always give people a choice in their education. By offering elective courses, children can find something they are passionate about at a young age and begin to develop those skills. Maybe some people would like to take choir and others would like to take art; it would be great to offer both of these choices.

  • It is helpful to todays world

In today's world it is seen that to be successful you have to have taken a kazillion tests, and a million electives and classes in order for you to get the same education that our parents and their parents got for half of the time and pain in the you know what. Now for the opportunity to be able to take elective classes that are specific to the career that they are thinking that they like, most people are going to say, "oh well students at that age don't know what they want to be" i wanted to be either a scientist or an engineer since i was 5. Im 25 with 3 degrees in engineering. Every child has an idea of what they want to be in life, some follow through some don't. But if i had the chance to take engineering math classes in middle school. I could have been much more prepared.

  • I hate Electives

No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no and one more thing no.

  • Only compulsory .

Electives get in the way of academics. They give students more homework which stresses them and makes them more tired for the next day. Plus, they may face bullying because they aren't as good at the subjects as their classmate. For the previous reasons, middle schools shouldn't have any electives.
