  • Pay your fine AND do your time?

For criminals there is a saying. You either pay your fine or do your time. Unfortunately for kids you just have to do the time. "For what horrible crime did they comment"? You may ask yourself. I don't know, from the looks of it they just have to because they became existent. But what about the fine? For a criminal just a bit of the green stuff will get you out of the situation. Well for kids the fine comes after they comment the "crime". By this I mean dropping out. Now that they pay the fine they don't have to do the time right? WRONG! They still have to go back to spend their time. So in all reality we really don't treat students like criminals. We treat them WORSE!

  • Yes, school attendance should be required.

Children need school for the educational and social benefits it provides. A favorable academic background is extremely helpful in getting a job and creating a substantial financial future for oneself. If students are not required to attend school, some of them would choose not to go, which could lessen these students' chances of pursuing a lucrative career in the future. While choosing not to go to school may seem like an appealing decision to some, the long term effects will likely be negative.

  • Why not? It already pretty much is.

Right now, kids are able to drop out of school well before they finish it, and there are aren't really any means to enforce going to school even if they decide not to before then. Districts with the most attendance problems are usually the ones with the most other problems as well, so they're not going to be able to enforce anything. We might as well just make the policy match reality. Parents/guardians should be the ones forcing kids to go to school, not the state.

  • School attendance should be voluntary!

Hard uncomfortable chairs, empty stomachs, early starts, single file lines, set timetables, not allowed to eat when you feel like it. No, not jail. School. This is a free country!!!!!!!!! Have you been in this position? School attendance should be voluntary. Do you agree? Do you like school? What do you think?

  • School attendance should be voluntary

Kids who work on farms are learning just like we are. Parents should be able to pick if we go to school or not. We should be free to pick what we want to do for ourselves and our lives. Some kids are dropping out right now and not finishing school.

  • Students should go to school everyday

Kids should go to school if they want a good education. You just cant give up,you have to try because you could make something of yourself if you did try. I know there are bully problems at some schools but dont let a simple bully put you down and force you to stay at home so your not humiliated. I get those who also FAKE sick for a week because you dont want to do alot of work in one of your classes. Well i think people should start trying and not giving up because things get to tough ride out the waves and see where it takes you :)

  • Should be voluntary

The people who don't want to be at school are holding up the ones who are there because they want to get a good education. Without them the people who are serious about education could do more interactive things and could have more time with the teacher to discuss things.
Yes, there is no reason for it not to. It should be because kids who come to school everyday still fail. No matter if you come to school or not, there will be kids failing. There is no connection of coming to school and passing a test. There are many kids who don't come to school for a few days but they still get at least a B or 70%.

  • Yes, everyone deserves freedom.

I think students don't like the routine that always happens. There are also bullying problems. Students should be allowed to study the things they want to be successful, the way they want. Parents and guardians should be the ones choosing to go to school. We live in a free country!

  • No it not idea

Kids don't want to go to school. I honestly think schools should cut down on school hours. Plus teachers don't get very much for teaching. So help the teachers. They deserve it.NO MORE SCHOOL! NO MORE SCHOOL! NO MORE SCHOOL! Take this message to heart. School, you met your match.

  • Sometimes We Don’t Want What’s Best For Us

It is part of human nature to at times want to avoid that which is best for us. Schooling is one of these things. It can be difficult and frustrating, however ultimately education is a valuable tool for all people. Youths in particular may choose not to attend school in order to do more fun things, like sleeping in or watching television, however they do not realize the long-term harm that this can do. School should absolutely be mandatory, because it is the best way to ensure success later in life.

  • No One Would Show Up

No, school attendance should not be voluntary. Most teenagers today say that school is boring and a waste of their time. They have very little interest in their classes and do not seem overly concerned how this attitude will affect their futures. Many of these students stay in school only because they have to – they are too young to quit or the state they live in will pull their driver’s license if they quit. If school attendance were voluntary, we would probably be surprised at how many students would simply not go.

  • I think school shouldn't be voluntary

I believe this because it would ruin your future (kids who don't go to school) this is because they would not get a proper education. This may cause not getting a proper job and will not get payed very much. Another thing is if you don't get proper money you won't be able to support your family. Your parents may not be the best source of education unless they are a teacher.

  • Yes, school should be voluntary!

School does not teach you how to get trough life. School just simply teaches you how to get through school. & I been in schools that spend most of their funds on a big indoor pool, new doors and some very expensive computers when everything they cover in every school i have gone to do not cover any projects that demand the power that these computers have. When they should be spending that money on...I don't know, some better books maybe. But instead these schools squander money on BS. Also, students feel imprisoned in school. I believe the only way school should be mandatory is if just about everything else is optional such as uniforms no one should be forced to wear them in public schools, but they should always have a choice to wear them if they want to i cant keep count of how much times i went late because i had no idea what to wear. And some students are embarrassed of their wardrobe, not everyone has money. And there should also be a larger variety of studies like business, programming and much more. I think schools aren't focused enough helping these students find a career that they love. That is the key to life if you ask me, because work is going to be a huge part of our life we should at least have the opportunity to have more career based classes so we can be prepared in real life, and i know some of you might say that is what college is for but not everybody wants to go to college. But W/e i had to make this fast so yea.

  • 21st century family

In a modern 21st century family, where often both parents are busy working to pay off mortgages, schools remain the single most effective and reliable way to deliver that education to all citizens.

The fruits of education are obvious - a better selection of jobs, wider understanding of the world and those who live in it, tolerance of others, the thinking skills and general knowledge to be an informed voter, and the independence to live on their own instead of having to constantly rely on their parents once they become an adult .

  • The problems of not going to school

Yes school may sometimes be exhausting especially when you in a higher grade but that doesn't mean you shouldn't go to school, if young people don't go to school they will get frustrated in the future and this might even force them to commit crime or even suicide, my name

  • It is providing futures for kids.

We the people pay taxes for school so we think that kids should be more grateful and want to go to school. If they don't they probably will not get jobs and definitely won't get good ones. I don't base success on how much money people have but I don't want to see someone with nothing.

  • No it should not

Children today are spoiled enough as it is already and now to top it off we are going to say you know what come to school only if you feel like it? No I think not and in fact there would more than likely be a sharp decline in school attendance.

  • School attendance not be voluntary

It should not be voluntary because the teachers wont know what to teach anyone. They wont have anything planned because they wouldn't know where everyone is. What they would be teaching might be easy for someone and it might be a lot harder for someone else. So the teacher wouldn't be productive for some students because the students who already know that stuff would be bored. This is coming from a 6th grader who knows what she's talking about.

It should not be voluntary because how will you get a good job if your education is poor? You won't know anything so therefore you will most likely get a crappy job with crappy pay.
