  • Schools should ban strapless dresses at proms.

Minors should not be able to dress in overly sexual ways, especially at school sponsored events such as prom. The prom is supposed to be a celebration of high school graduation, not an adult themed sex party. If people dress too provocatively, they could get into trouble or invite activities they will not want in the end.

  • That's not cool

If anyone is seen pulling the top of a strapless dress or top down they should be charged with sexual assault parents need to tech there kids that girls are not sex toys we are people and all people need to be treated even so no one needs to ban strapless dresses or tops

  • No they shouldn't.

There is no reason to ban strapless dress at proms. A tiny spaghetti strap is really not that different than having no strap at all. It is not like it is showing anything but more shoulder. I think that it would be overkill to ban a strapless dress because there is nothing wrong with them.

  • It is just a style of dress and is harmless

No, I do not believe that schools should ban strapless dresses from prom. I think that if a male or female is caught pulling the top of student's strapless gown down, they should be charged with sexual assault. Parents need to teach their kids that certain actions are not acceptable and schools need to reiterate that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.

  • Why Limit Options

I do not see a reason for schools to ban strapless dresses at proms. Proms are essentially for the students and have little to do with the actually school. It's a celebration for the students and many girls take a lot of time pursuing their dress. I don't see any reason to limit options, there's nothing wrong with strapless dresses.

  • No that is going too far

Strapless dresses should not be banned at proms because it doesn't solve a problem. A girl could wear a strapless dress and be completely covered and appropriate while another girl can wear a regular strap dress and be completely inappropriate. The way to handle it is to make sure all dresses are worn appropriately.

  • Why are invisible straps allowed?

I read an article recently on how a school banned strapless dressed, but allowed invisible straps. Tell me how does that work? Most people can keep a strapless dress on properly without any use of straps. And for crying out loud, it's a prom! That's the only time people could wear strapless dresses without covering up their shoulders and being able to wear occasional dance/prom dresses near school-related events.

  • No schools should not ban strapless dresses at proms.

While without doubt schools have a compelling interest in controlling the dress code at school sponsored functions. However a ban of a specific style of dress does not further that interest, since there are many strapless dresses that are conservative and well suited for wear at school dances. A dress code should require that all dresses meet specific standards.

  • There is no reason to ban strapless dresses.

There is no reason to ban strapless dresses. As long as all underwear is covered by the dress, why ban them? Dresses with straps can be just as, or more revealing than strapless dresses, depending on the cut and style. Halter dresses are a perfect example, they are often so low in the back that you can see the girl's backside, but no one wants to ban those.
