I think ... They should be truly punished for this as many children's commit suicide for this purpose... Which are much hurting to others... The people those who hurt others don't realize what they are doing to them they just commit it as a fun to them but they don't realize that they are losing someone's life...
I believe that schools should punish students for online bullying. The argument will be made that the bullying is happening online and outside of school property, and therefore schools should not intervene. Although this may be true, I think the schools still need to punish the students and educate the bullies as well. Bullies need to be punished in all arenas, including school and at home.
Teachers always say students can come to them for anything, and that should apply to cyberbullying. Schools are responsible for students in the same way a boss is responsible for their employee, and when that employee posts inappropriate information, the boss will provide some form of punishment. The same goes for a student and their school board.
Disrupts the school with the attitude of the bully victim and attendance will be a problem. If the school gets involved the students being the bullies or the ones who saw the bullying will know what the consequences will be if they continue having the cyber bullying happen around the internet or town.
If someone bullies someone online they shouldn't just ignore it "oh it was online, doesn't count". If that's the attitude people are taking them they should think again. Something written online is the same as something being spoken or written in a note. Bullying is bullying, no matter how it is carries out it will still damage you in the same way. Because if cyber bulling continues in schools they would have to pay if any of their students kill themselves

Anything off school grounds falls to the parents. Also, what if someone impersonates another person. For example, person A impersonates person B, and then insults people C, D and E. A person could get a high scoring student in massive trouble. Services like facebook can't prevent a person from impersonating a person before they say mean things. I'm not saying it should be ignored Achmed18, I'm only saying that its possible to claim to be a certain person.
People need to stand up for there self but they think they will get bully but if you stand up they will leave you and go away. But if you go tell the schools they will tell the kid that was bullying you will get in iss but what if you where that kid.So think about it.
Cyberbullying mainly takes place after hours, and schools have no control over what happens in that period of time. I believe schools should speak to the students about proper usage of electronics, and talk to parents about dealing with it, but no real punishment (such as detention or loss of recess) should be administered.
No. Bullying is unfortunate, no doubt. But the punishment for online bullying will only make things worse. Kids tend to rebel against what they have been told and punishment handled down by the school authority will only fuel such immature behaviours. Punishment would work only if students are mature enough but if students are mature enough, they would not commit the bullying in the first instance. Therefor punishment should not be implemented for online bullying.
The only time a school can intervene with a students behavior is when they where at school, or at a bus stop. Yes, cyber bullying is unfortunate, but schools should not be able to punish a student for doing it. Could a teacher step in? I'm sure that could be done. But punished? No. If fthere would be any punishment it would need to come from someone else, other than a school.
I don't think schools should get involved in whatever kids do outside of school. That's what parents are for. I put this in the "no" category since I'm guessing that most on line bullying happens in the off hours when kids are on their home computers. If they engage in on line bullying while at school, then yes, schools should punish them for it.
