  • It's Up To Scientologists

If believers in scientology feel that their beliefs should be considered a religion, then it should in fact be considered a religion. Everyone should have religious freedom so you, nor I, should be able to tell people whether or not their religion is permissible or non-permissible. It all comes down to a person's values.

  • I think scientology should be recognised as a religion

I am not a Scientologists but I believe that Scientology should be treated like any other religion for these reasons,
    1. As the founder L. Ron Hubbard is dead, it has lived on and became very polular
    2. I believe that all religions should be treated equally. Even though there are things in Scientology that I disagree with, I believe that there is wisdom in all religions.

  • Yes Scientology is a religion

Scientiology has always been viewed as a religion up to this point so why would we stop now. People who practice Scientology believe in it and practice it. It may be different then some of the main stream religions of today but it still must be recognized as a religion.

  • Is it any more irrational than any other recognized religion?

The tenants of Scientology are indeed, in my opinion, ridiculous. If you allow yourself to view other religions, and your own from an outside perspective it looks just as ridiculous. For example, the talking snake, burning bush, virgin birth, the trinity, the resurrection and damnation all seem on the same page as the tenants of Scientology. It's all absurd, but we can believe what we want to believe.

  • What is a religion?

A religion is a system of beliefs and practices that some times makes moral standards. Given this definition we have to agree that Scientology is a religion. This does not mean that anyone has to respect or agree with it, but does meet the criteria for being considered a religion and should receive the rights and responsibilities of that designation.

  • No god in it

To me a religion is based on one God or more you can have a church for the flying spighty monster for all I care but what do they believe in money or science if it can be some thing like that you might as well make a church for a bathroom or a country so why not call the kkk a religion

  • No the religion is ****

The religion is based off of false information that can't come close to real life situations the money they are getting paid is going towards drugs and other illegal purposes some one can't just make up a religion and expect it to be true the person who made the religion was probably on drugs while making it and there is hardly any proof that thier religious figure is real and plus any religion made by a science fiction writer can't be believed truly I think Scientology is the most stupid religion ever

  • Religion, in this case = tax shelter

This argument is not about theology, beliefs, faiths, or opinion. It is a matter of taxation. The desire for this organization to become a religion was based solely on the need to avoid taxation for its ACCUMULATED profits (no charity is allowed to accumulate, only receive money in order to serve the community in some way). Hubbard said this himself - the only way to really become wealthy is to start a religion. They accomplished this by extortion, by bringing many lawsuits, - frivolous and annoying, but expensive and time consuming - against IRS officials. This is well documented. Their 'services' and 'humanitarian charitable work' is only self serving for the profit of the organization.
They do all of this on the backs of slave and child labour.
Scientology is an atrocity...It is a CULT, and it is allowed to continue its abusive, harassing, and life-destroying practices under the permission of the law which it was given under duress. This is complete madness.

  • No no no

It would be one thing if they just held bizarre beliefs. It gets seriously dangerous when you see how advanced and violent their doctrine is about who is deemed supressive persons. No one advocates for people accused of this. They don't get to defend themselves or decide scientology isn't living up to their needs. They aren't allowed to quit or question their leaders decisions. There is so much data on just that subject alone and probably half the religion is dedicated to learning about s.P's. Its called tech. And this treatment of others isn't a choice. Its a requirement for them to be ruthless with s.P's. As an s.P one loses all his rights and is allowed to be destroyed and tricked with no consequences. Scientologists seem to take pleasure in this. They celebrate when they successfully ruin these people and have entire departments of people called the OSA who are dedicated day and night to these clandestine goals. They have endless money and spare no expense. How does this help our culture to have these people in charge of any other living souls who have every right to choose whats best for them. We all have Inalienable rights in this country and expect due process until being found in a court of law to be guilty. Scientology justice is perverted and biased. Letting them get away with manipulating another human being life is anti religious and anti love. Its simply wrong. They have no authority to enact this brand of justice, which is not fair or balanced justice at all. Destroying people doesn't get anyone closer to heaven. Its extremism and should be regulated if allowed to exist at all. All of scientology's submerged activity isn't doing anything to our society except creating justifiable killers and stealing peoples rights to privacy. Which all people do have regardless of their doctrine. And since when did a religion teach murder and society see it as enlightenment? Never, that's why they hide it and lie when asked.

  • Legal scam, the only religion to copyright its text

It circulates around gaining money, and as far as we can see it has the money to buy a 4 million dollar super bowl commercial, and gets away with working men and women under the cost of living, and copyrights their sacred text. It should've stuck to being a Sci-do series.

  • Scientologists Harms Society

They kill people. They abuse people. They steal people's money. They kidnap people. They rape people. They brainwash people. They hide from authorities in the shadows like ordinary thieves and murderers. They harass people. They lie to people. They enslave people. They assassinate people. They are nothing but terrorists that are created by their own founder of the Church of Scientology. Burn the Scientologists!

  • Scientology is a cult at best, evil menace to society at worst

After looking up the definition of cult in CIC or cult information center i find that Scientology is, at best, a cult, with the definition of cult fitting it perfectly

at worst it is a slave working, harassing, human rights violating, money sucking, federal document stealing, lying menace.

Did I metion several people died because scientology did not let them us actual medecine, force feeding them whatever their psudoscience could come up with.

Also their holy texts were written by a science fiction writer on drugs.

Not to metion fair play or their use of slavery

  • Scientology, the cult of greed and evil

Well, lets bring in the list of problems of the top of my head:
    1. Their "holy" texts are bad science fiction written by a man on drugs
    2. They use slave labor
    3. They make you pay to be a scientologist (which could spawn another debate on whether it brakes the human right of freedom of religion)
    4. They consistently brake human rights declarations articles 4, 5,12, 18,19,20, 23, 24 and 25 and get away with it under the guise of a religion, I repeat they get away with violating human rights
    5. It was started as a business venture and "changed" into a religion on a whim just to escape taxes

and I'll end my tiny list at that for now

  • I'm all for people believing what they want

But, I do not believe scientology is a religion on the grounds of how it was started and the purely economic factors of how they conduct business. That being said if people want to join scientology I find no reason why they can't do as they please, but that they shouldn't be exempt from tax related purposes as they seem to be doing just fine financially and that what money they do save from tax exemption isn't going back to the people, instead they run a camp where they make members work for $50 a week and live by their rules with consequences for asking, why do we do this? Scientology likes to make the argument that they are like any other religions and cites past offenses of other religious bodies as reason to not be questioned for their abuses to their own people, but that in my opinion doesn't give them valid reason to commit such acts in our modern times.
