It's not a necessity of life and distracts them from the realities of life. I don't think they should have it until they get a job and are able to support themselves. Face to face conversation instead of texting all the time is more personal. I think technology has actually put the younger generation behind instead of ahead.
The social media today is extremely dangerous and i think that it has to be banned

Facebook takes the control out of parents hands and lets children and teens get on there site and say horrible things. They allow children and teens to post nude and offensive pics and all kinds of disgraceful things no parent would want their children exposed to. I've tried to report pages and facebook does nothing. They're trying to drag our children straight down to hell.
The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances.
If the government takes away social media for minors, that wouldn't that be breaking the first amendment? Then, those minors wouldn't have the right of speech, freedom of press, right to petition, and the right to assemble. IT IS ILLEGAL ACCORDING TO THE CONSTITUTION!!!
I think it should not be illegal for people under the age of 18. I think that because instead of making it illegal parents should follow their child. They should follow them to make sure nothing is inappropriate or if he/she is not being cyber bullied. That is why I think social media should not be illegal for people under the age of 18.
I believe that social media should not be illegal for people under the age of 18. Teenagers really rely on their Facebook, Twitter, etc. to keep in touch with their friends. It would be difficult to enforce if social media was illegal because it is so accessible. Instead, parents just need to teach their children to be responsbile when they go on those sites.
Let's face it, cyber bullying can be avoided... And as for the 'risks' online that are posed by perverts, these can be avoided too. What we need here is education, not just more and more bans which restrict freedom of people. The fact is, that for the majority, social media is harmless, and the majority should not be punished because of minority issues.

Especially, YouTube. YouTube should let kids allowed under and over 18. However, maybe people aged under eighteen will have limited features including: No webcam videos, no swearing/ porn videos, limited amount of videos like thirteen. Also, they should make a screen recorder for kids. Same with other social media. OR they should make a different social media called something kid-friendly and kids can download/ use the app/ website.
Social Media gives teenagers a chance to discover themselves and it opens their world. Addiction may be a problem, but teenagers just need to be educated. If measures need to be taken, then put a time limit up. Besides that, you can't introduce something to the world and then just take it away.
