I believe that the government shouldn't have the right to tell people what they can or can't eat. As long as the food is USDA approved and not poisonous, it should be available to anyone who wants it. The moment that the government can choose your diet, we lose our freedom and our identity as a democracy.
If soft drinks are going to be banned in the United States, then so should alcohol and tobacco products (which are far worse). Instead of banning stuff, consumers should be more educated in making choices. The only way to affect change is to have demand dip so low that companies go out of business. Soft drinks will only disappear when consumers stop buying the products altogether. The same is true with alcohol and tobacco.
