  • Student Debt Should Be Cancelled

Many young people are faced with years of payments to get out from under their school debts. While they are debt-ridden, they cannot plan for their futures. I believe that many of them would be happy to do public service in exchange for the forgiveness of this debt. Recently graduated professionals, such as doctors, dentists and teachers could gain experience as they pay down their debt and, at the same time, provide needed service to the community.

  • Yes, student debt is crippling our country.

It would be a fantastic idea. Many other countries offer free tuition and are much better off for it. These countries have educated citizens which should be a goal for all countries. Forgiving debt in exchange for public service would be an excellent start towards that. It would be like the government was paying to educate their workers, which is a sound thought. Everyone benefits from it, there are no downsides.
