Should students be able to wear whatever they want instead of uniforms?

  • We need our own opinion heard!

As a student I see girls walking past me in the same situation as myself, our skirts are too long our hair is plain and boring in the same style everyday. We cannot express our inner self and then we get nagged at to be ourselves and not follow the wrong influence. How can we when we are all like robots walking around trying to please everybody around us by being like them and copying their style of how to wear our uniforms. We need to wear our own clothes, we are the ones who have to wear them so it should be 100% our choice. I speak on behalf of all parents out there who are constantly paying for a brand new, expensive uniform when we (the children) can only ever wear them once in our lives. Then again we could use 'hand me downs' but then we will get bullied for being different and not wearing the same amount of money as everybody else. This then leading to no friends to hang around with which then forms into loneliness and depression for teenagers. Please hear the children who should be making these decisions and not the adults who make it for us.- Gabriela Sheldon , age 14.

  • Students should be able to wear regular clothes

Uniforms are plain, ugly, uncomfortable, and doesn't have style. What's the point of them. You can were regular clothes to express your self instead of looking like others. Uniforms does not stop bullying. If u were regular clothes you still can get bullied. Your school clothes can be ripped, dirty, and have wholes in it just like regular clothes.

  • Does help students feel like themselves

If you make a kid wear a uniform they could not delevope a strong sense of who they are. For me I get to wear what I want to school and it is not distracting. People think kids will show up in inappropriate clothes but that's why we have a dress code to help everyone that in the non inappropriate clothes

  • Students should be able to wear whatever they want.

Schools underestimate children thinking if they don't have a dress code students will show up naked. Students know what's right and what's wrong. Children show their personality through their clothes and bullying is going to happen with uniforms or without. When kids have to wear something they don't like chances are they are going to be less focused on school work and more focused on the outfit. I think that all schools should let children have the choice of what clothes they wear because they are expressing themselves and that is what schools teach children to do. Right?

All schools should let students wear regular clothes to school because students feel more comfortable with regular clothes. Uniforms can take away a student's individuality; it is good to be unique because if everyone was the same then it would be a boring world with no purpose.

First, uniforms are boring because of their colors. Uniforms come in the most tedious of colors. It’s always navy blue, green, black and other dull colors. Another reason why uniforms suck is the patterns. It’s always checkered or plain. And that is totally boring

  • Well bah duh!

Uniforms are uncomfortable i would know because i wear one every single day. The teachers always say that you have to be comfortable to work but we arent. Also the teachers dont wear uniforms so why do we?? Even though the gang stuff is causing all thiss it could be a rule.

Children aren't adults. One, they're sensitive and entitled to peace of mind. Two, they shouldn't have to compete for attention during incubation. Three, it sets people up for immaturity as they grow up in superficially evaluating one another's character. If anything's fascist, it's forcing people to endure rugged individualism through fashion statements. It's especially fascist against those born on the fringe of society, unaware of fashion trends.

  • They might get bullied

Firstly bullying and being left out. What happens if a child comes into school and sees all his/hers friends wearing completely different clothes. They come up to their friends and they don’t let him/her play with them. All because of some clothes. If everybody wore the same clothes, then none of this would happen. This could also carry on every day for quite some time which would count as them being bullied and they might just leave the school. All because of some clothes.

  • Children should wear uniform

Lots of people can not afford high class clothes so they will get scared of coming to school and will feel un safe at school because they might get bulled or they might start picking on there children because they have second handed clothes, that's why children should wear uniforms.

  • Where is the safety?

Students don't know how to dress appropriately. On multiple occasions, I have witnessed many teenage girls entering the school in short skirts and showing their cleavage. Not only does this put them at risk to predators, but they also make the school look bad. Having uniforms will help prevent gangs from forming. They won't be able to show their gang colors and lessen their risk of getting hurt by rivaling social groups. The uniform will provide unison. Some may be more prone to bullying if they wear certain clothing that the bullies may not accept. Nevertheless, uniforms have multiple advantages, let them have their freedom elsewhere; school is a haven full of knowledge, not a nightclub.

  • Its more comfortable

Whats the point of wearing uniforms to support the school there is no point of wearing uniforms. I wear uniforms its not really comfortable or good generally. Think about it its only uniforms if u don't wear it there is no harm. Their JUST clothes it probably not going to change anything

  • Kids need uniforms.

If your school has uniforms, they should keep them. If it doesn't, then your school should get them. Uniforms have the ability to cut down on physical bullying, because you have to keep those uniforms looking food. And it also cuts down on verbal bullying by taking away fashion and style from children who should be focusing on their studies.
