  • It's a new age, people should have the ability to adapt to new technologies.

1.) It keeps kids social, which is something that can for the most part, only be done at school. With the only chance for most kids to talk being during lunch, its hard for kids to have a social life.
2.) the very same argument can be made for working adults, why do you need a phone if there's business phones throughout the office, and don't even try to say, "Well, they need it to schedule appointments, and after work activities" because that's the same thing that kids are doing.
3.) Phones don't distract people from their tasks as much as you think. Although multitasking is not possible, you can still have things on your mind
4.) accessibility to a computer: Some teachers will not allow you to leave the room because they want to supervise you or some other dumb thing like that. With a phone that will allow the student to work on assignments, more work will be done, thus a better education.
5.) Homework has become far more stressful and far more needing than past homework, the same stuff you did in 10th grade? Yeah, well your child is doing in 7th grade. A phone can also just be a way to relieve stress, this gives the kids a better mindset, and if they aren't stressed and pressured into doing work, they have a better chance at remembering what they did. (AKA keeping what they were supposed to learn)

This was written by a highschool student, These are all actual problems.

  • Yes, because phones have many uses

If a child is on a field trip and is lost, he/she has a phone to call for help or their parents. Another reason is because if a computer is not available then they can whip out their phone and use a calculator research something. Their phones could be very helpful at times in need or even for homework. Finally a phone is the lightest way to research a topic.

  • Íecessity and style.

Students consider their cell phones an integral part of their lives. If they follow the cell phone etiquette it is more than ok to have them at school.
Moreover with all these apps ,mobile phones have become mini laptops enabling the students to perform a variety of tasks related to their lessons.

  • Students should be aloud phones in school

Speaking as a student, I say that we should but not have them on in thee middle of class. What if an intruder comes in the school and cuts all the power lines for the school and the phones are down? Then what? If student had their phones on them they could call cops or even call their parents its all in how you look at this debate because most parents would be worried about their children at school with an intruder! But on the other hand. The student would be distracted in school with their phone. In my school you are allowed to have you phone on you as long as it is put away and not out and on. So therefor students should have their phones on them.

  • Students should be able to bring there phone to school

They should be able to bring there phone to school because it is how they keep i n contact with people in there family and if the office wont let you call your parents or someone then when you get out the building then thats when you have your chance to call and see what is wrong with them or you

  • Put more trust in children

Everyone on the opposing side has the argument that children will get distracted by each and every little thing, but phones will not distract all students, or even most. Phones provide useful emergency support not provided without it, so you just need to put a little more faith in your children.

  • It's Their Property

If whoever owns the device (whoever paid for it, or received it as a gift) believes that the device should be with them, nobody has the right to forcibly remove it from their person. Doing so - for any length of time (unless the person removing said object is an officer of the law with probable cause) - is a crime most commonly referred to as "theft".

  • Kids should not need their phones in school.

If you need to talk to a parent for them to come get you go to the nurse and she/he will let you call home. Do not worry about not knowing the contact because they are on the school file. If there is emergency your parent can call the school to talk to you or they can come get you. Otherwise you shouldn't need contact to anyone outside of school.

  • Distraction, distraction, distraction

The argument that cell phones are needed to be able to call parents is an excuse. Land lines are available for use in every school. Looking information up on phones as a tool for education is also a bad idea. Students need to learn how to use books, yes, old fashion books, Yes, it's tedious, there's no instant gratification but, that's the point. There's purpose in learning how to dig and research information. The biggest issue with kids wanting phones in school is not actually calling home, but FROMO and withdrawal from their tech.

  • Leave them home.

There is nobody a student needs to call that importantly that they need their own phone on them. If there was some kind of family emergency where the parents needed to contact that student, they could simply call the school. After all, if there was a reason why the student had to get out of class, the parents would need to let the school known anyway.
If phones where allowed in school, they would also end up in classrooms were not only would they cause distractions but may tempt students to cheat in class using either apps to look up an answer they should know or to text other students for the answer.

  • I don't think kids should have phone in class.

It distracts the kid that has the phone from listening to the lesion and learning to do it. It also can distract other kids if you don't mute the phone and goes off in the middle of a lesion. There are many ways of stopping kids from not learning and this is just one of those ways.
