  • Its a great life skill.

I think students should be able to have the opportunity to cook at school because, well... It's a life skill. For example, when the students are older and have a family they would know how to cook. Also I think it should be a necessary class (in middle school). YES to cooking in school!!!!

  • I believe that all students should be able to learn cooking at school.

Not all student have parents around that can teach them how to cook. Also, teachers will be around to make sure students don't get hurt or make a mess. Not all parents are good cooks and don't have the skills to teach their children. They would not be taught how to cook like professional chefs. They will just learn the basic skills of cooking and how to eat healthily and cook healthy food. Say if a child's parents are not home and they are getting hungry they now have the skills to make a healthy snack to eat.

  • Yes they should

Lots of people dont know how to cook and it is a good thing to learn it is a basic life skill and we need it , n e e d i t , yes yes yes we should have it be manditory or required at the school for sure.!!!!!

  • Cooking classes should be a mandatory part of curriculum in schools nationwide.

While cooking, children learn basic skills. This includes not only counting weighing, and keeping track of time, but teamwork and sharing the final result with friends and family. One might say that many schools don't have the budget to hire a culinary instructor. While this is a possibility, any teacher can have students experiment with food in their own classroom. No separate teacher necessary. In conclusion, cooking is a very good class to be held in schools.

  • Cooking gives independence

Ok yea sometimes it does get messy if u learn cooking in school but with proper instructors and strict discipline, you can really enjoy cooking. It also helps u gain independence since if u r alone u can cook a meal for yourself, or you can show your parents your cooking skills.
It feels like an achievement, learning something and getting skilled at it, so in my opinion cooking must be taught in schools since they also help u in future life

  • I agree because this will help me with future cooking skills. Its just an essential part of growing up and life.

I agree because Children need that skill later in life. There are so many people in collage living on their own but they don't know how to cook so they just microwave Mac n' cheese. Cooking is an essential part of life, your parents may not have enough time or ability to teach them all the time

  • Yes, we should educate children to cook!

Children need to learn where food comes from and what different types of food are. We need to start early and teach them the difference between healthy food and processed food. I'm not saying we need to teach them only how to cook, but instead how to count calories and eat better. If we start at school we can make a difference in our obesity epidemic. If we can't fix the adults at least try to save our children! Our society is so different now, parents are busy and rarely home to cook. We need to teach our kids to cook dinner instead of going to the closest fast food restaurant or eating sugary cereal for dinner. Optional culinary arts in high school is not enough! I believe we should start earlier like middle school.

  • Yes they should

Kids will need to learn to cook for themselves and their future family. The kids can cook healthy foods from leftovers instead of buying unhealthy chips and soda. The kids can be as creative as they want and parents can stop buying unhealthy McDonalds and Burger King. Homemade is better.

  • Yes they should

Kids can learn to cook for themselves and their family. They can be as creative and unique as they want to be.They can choose to cook healthy foods out of leftovers instead of reaching for the chips or the soda can they will need to know how to cook in the future for themselves and their family. If they do not learn that that could be a huge problem later on.

  • Nice cool cook

It is good to cook and if you are home alone you won't be able to cook a meal so then you will die of starvation and your parents will be really sad but kids should learn to cook at school because it is social. They are with other students

  • No, students should not cook at school.

I think cooking at school should be optional. It was offered in my public school, but I never took it. However, it's important for students to learn about good eating habits and nutrition, and schools should offer a course on this, at least in gym class. They should learn that homemade food is more wholesome than fast food, and learn some of the basics, so they can grow up to make healthy decisions for themselves.

  • Students should not take a cooking class.

Cooking should not take cooking classes at school because it makes a huge mess. Cooking should learn to cook from their parents under supervision. Parents are really good cookers and they taught me how to cook. That is why I think a cooking class should not be allowed at school.

  • Irrelevant in today's society.

First off, as I said, it is irrelevant now because of the internet and tutorials and recipes online teaching you how to make everything correctly. Also, some kids may have certain allergies, be vegan, or vegetarian, or the foods do not belong in their diets. So cooking today is irrelevant, unnecessary, and a waste of money for public schools, and private ones

  • Some people don't need the skill

Some people don't want to be chef some of them don't want to do anything to do with cooking. Some people don't have the time to cook when they're older and if they have no time to cook they don't need to learn to cook. Instead they can can just work on what they want to do when they're older. See sometimes there is no need for cooking.
