Should teachers be able to ban inappropriate library books?

  • Yes, teachers should be able to ban inappropriate library books.

In my opinion, teachers should be able to ban inappropriate library books. Because there are many books that have inappropriate content for young people to be exposed to. Be that as it may there are a number of historic books that also contain questionable content and left unedited can be very disturbing.

  • Make sure they are kid appropriate.

Of course teachers should be able to ban inappropriate books. However it should not be because of person beliefs. No kids should be looking at porn, but they should not take personal beliefs like religion in banning books. It should be a very bad book like the one's with Fabio on the cover.

  • No, I don't think that teachers should be able to ban books.

It says in the Bill of Rights that you have freedom to express your self, and i think that banning books is like playing God. A solution would be to rate books like you would rate a movie. Also i think it should be the parent should be able to decide if the book is ok for their child.

In the Bill of Rights it states that you have the freedom to express yourself, but banning the books is like playing God. It is not up to the teachers to decide what is best for you, that is the parents job. I think a solution would be to rate books like you would rate a movie.

  • No, teachers shouldn't be able to ban books

Teachers shouldn't be able to ban books because a student should know how to detect the difference between a book for them and an inappropraiate book. Also, students will be slapped in the face with reality when they learn about things they should have been ready for earlier, but instead the teachers have them "protected" from it.

  • It goes against the First Amendment

The First Amendment is the right to free speech or free expression. Teachers banning books is taking this right away from students. If the teacher still feels the need to have censorship, they should confer with the parent. As a child, the responsibility of choosing an appropriate books should be a decision between both the child and the parent. The parent then would take control, and the student would still be allowed the freedom of expression.
