Should teachers be allowed to use cell phones at school?

  • Yes, they are convenient.

Yes, teachers should be allowed to use cell phones in school, because cell phones help with scheduling. Cell phones also help with security, and they can be an important security tool in school. Allowing them to use cell phones is no different than allowing them to use a land line during the school day.

  • Only on Breaks

Teachers should be able to use cell phones at school, just not on taxpayer's time. Teachers can use cell phones on breaks or before or after school. They just can't do so when they are trying to teach children, which is what they are paid to do. Unless there is an emergency, teachers can refrain from cell phone usage in front of their pupils.

  • Yes, They should!!!

I think yes because teachers might have an important phone call, maybe about their students or their families. They might also have a call from the office about a student or a security reason. They're might be a break in, in the school and who would know? You will have no idea and you might freak out. Those are all my reasons please take this in consideration. Also I am a 5th grade student not a teacher.

  • Yes teachers should be aloud to use their cell phones in the classroom.

Teachers use their phones for timers and to use to contact their family in a emergency. They use it t stay in touch with other teachers and if we have a lock down they can use their personal phone to keep in touch and still stay hidden instead of having to go to the school phone and have to get out of hiding.

  • They should have cell phones

First things first, one reason that teachers should have phones in class is that if there isn't a wall phone in the classroom then teachers won't be able to know about emergencies. If a teacher has children at daycare, and there is an emergency such as their child is seriously injured, has fainted, or is having some serious behavior issues and has to leave for the day, then the teacher would want to know about that. If the teacher's father was in the hospital because he had a heart attack, and probably wouldn't be alive for much longer, and that they should come and say goodbye before it's too late, they would probably want to know that instead of first finding out hours after the call happened. They wouldn't want their parent to leave the world thinking that their child didn't care for them enough to come see them.
Another reason as to why teachers should have cell phones in class is that if there was a natural disaster like a tornado, he/she would be able to call for help in bad situations, such as being trapped underneath a big chunk of ceiling. If they had their hands free they could tell rescuers exactly where they were. They could also use the phone as a flashlight, and use that to be able to find others who are in need much easier. If students have phones on them as well, then the teacher could use Find My Phone as another way to find others and rescue them.
Finally, the last reason as to why teachers should have cell phones in the classroom is to be able to have reminders. If the class is doing a timed test for about 10 or so minutes, if the teacher doesn't have an IPad, then they might accidentally let the test go on longer than it should have been. However, if they use their cell phone as a timer, then that wouldn't happen. If the teacher has a doctor's appointment, then they could use the Calendar app to give them notifications (if the teacher has the phone make a sound when the notification happens) to remember things like that.

  • Yes they should!

Teachers should be able to use their phones, sometimes in class some of my teachers use cell phone apps to enhance the learning. This is very useful to the school and should be used all the time. But, I do agree that the shouldn't be texting their husband or playing candy crush during class.

  • They are useful

What if there is an emergency and the teachers need to call someone or they need to text another teacher to deliver an important message so that they don't disrupt a class or if they need to search something up for the class. Cellphones are useful for teachers. Teachers should be allowed to use them!

  • Yes, it should be allowed.

Cell phones should be used by teachers only on their free time or if in the class room only to teach the students something. So yes they should be able to bring their cell phones to school but no they should not be using them in front of their class for personal reasons.

  • Teachers should have access to cell phones at school

As long is it doesn't interfere with their ability to teach and monitor students, teachers should be able to have cell phones at school. They have families and children who may need to get in touch with them during the day. Sometimes teachers may incorporate their phones into their lessons.

What if the same thing is happening to a student and there mom/dad is about to die? Why should they not have the rights to call them and tell them how they feel.I think kids and teachers should have the right to us there phones.

  • No phones at schools for teachers

If students can't have phones in class them why should the teachers. Students need cell phones to survive. Teachers always tell students to put their phones away but they can't even do that. Teachers shouldn't have phones in the classroom if the students can't. Teachers don't need phones in class.

  • They shouldn't have them because if breaks focus on students learning.

I do not think they should have them because they could break focus for students in the middle of class while they have free work time. They could also interrupt class when the teacher is teaching and they get an important phone call in the middle of a lecture. Ball it up my dudes

  • Distraction to students

I know from experience it can be hard to concentrate in class when the teachers phone is ringing or gets a notification. One of my teachers even once stepped out of the room to take a call from her bank which disrupted my learning. I think teachers shouldn't have phones. If needed they could use the school phone for emergencies.

  • Teachers shouldn't use cell phones at school.

It's different if there's an emergency and somehow the power is out and they need to call 911 or something. However, that would be a bad influence on the kids. They need to be teaching professinally, just like the kids need to listen and not use their phones. Plus, the kids may be afraid to distrupt them when on phones and break them.

  • I Say No

I think its not fair that teachers can text their buddies in class while we are working on a text! Last year in 5th grade while we were testing, our teacher started laughing and when we asked why she said "oh its nothing. Just a 'text message'". That angers me because what if we have our worried parents trying to make contact with their children. Also they should not be on their phones. And even my mother agrees with me. I bet you every person who said yes is a teacher!
