Should teachers be paid more than college athletes?

  • To whom does an athlete send his/her children to learn from? Teachers.

Teachers play a much more important role in society than athletes. They prepare people for entry into the workforce and give them a better chance at improving their lives. Athletes, on the other hand, simply entertain the masses instead of contributing society in a tangible and long-lasting way. It only makes sense to compensate teachers accordingly whether they are working at the K-12, college, or university level. When teachers are not given the salary they deserve for their service to society, people are discouraged from becoming teachers themselves out of concern for low pay. As a consequence, there will be less teachers around to educate the next generation of engineers, leaders, entrepreneurs, etc. Sadly, society in general has yet to realize this, as most people are under the delusion that short-term happiness is much more important than long-term wellbeing that can only be provided by high-quality education and an abundance of opportunities.

  • Yes they should

Ok look, to get a job, you need a certain level of education. And for sports normally expierience. You would get expierience from playing that sport in college, but to play a sport in college, you have to have good grades. You can only achieve good grades with teachers. This is why teachers should get paid more, Without teachers there to teach you, you would be allowed on the sports team

  • Education or entertainment.

Let me put it this way. Teachers work hard and allow hundreds of students to get smarter, get jobs, get paid, and have a good life. College athletes are doing something they love to do and get paid. That sounds cool but the hard working teachers get paid MUCH less than college athletes. Think of getting paid $10 for doing a chore and $25 for playing a game. It doesn't make sense!

  • Yes I think so.

Yes I think that college instructors should be paid more than college athletes given that college athletes DON'T GET PAID. ROFL. They may get allot of perks but they don't get a dime for what they do officially. If they got paid it would disqualify them from participating in NCAA competitions.

  • Nooooooooo noooooooo no

No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no

  • Agreed with yes, they should, but kids look up to athletes

Kids don't look up to teachers, they look up to athletes and teachers don't exactly lead to stardom like athletes do and teachers aren't on tv or have a bunch of fans watching them. I mean, I DO agree that teachers should be paid more than athletes but teacher aren't famous.
