  • 17 is a

17 is a year away from 18. Both ages are the same. People saying no are stupid. 15 and 16 are also close to being adults. Bit you're not just magically an adult at 18 or 19, still a teenager. Age is just a number, who cares. Society i stupid.

  • The age should not be raised from 18

Teenagers are already difficult for their guardians therefore they shouldn’t change the adult which means it will be a couple more years of troubled “adults”, because of the age being raised.
Teens under 18 don’t have any freedom. They can’t make healthcare decisions, get a job without a parent’s permission and permission from the state based on a medical exam, they can’t leave their home they have grown up in or may have moved, they will then be considered a runaway and the police will arrest them, bring them home and put them in juvenile justice and anything they buy, even with their own money, it can be taken from them by their parents at any time for any reason. Before the industrial revolution people got married and had full adult rights upon puberty.
We already have a problem of immature young people because they are forced to live with their parents and not expected to support themselves at an early age. The majority of people who can’t take care of themselves at 18, will take away the autonomy of many younger people. Many parents don’t allow their teenager’s outside because they are afraid something will happen to them, their teenagers can be smart to the wrong person and get hit and maybe even knocked out. Many parents in this day and age are afraid of their teenagers getting abducted, and not knowing where they are. If they allow the teenagers to leave the house and hang out with a friend the parents will set a time to be home and the teenagers will come home late so it will blow their chances of doing this again. If they were to raise the age they will cause more problems with the teenagers.
The adult age should remain at the age of 18 because after you finish school I am sure the guardians don’t want to have to put up with them after they have just finished Year 12 and want to move on, maybe go to university or get a job. The guardians don’t want to have to care for their children after they have finished school they want to have some time and still care for them but not parent them around for the rest of their lives.
18 is the age of officially becoming an adult, even at 18, some are still immature. It strongly depends on the person whether they are mature enough to be considered adults or not. The adult age should not be raised or lowered at all, there are certain responsibilities that come with various ages. At the age of 18 you are legal to vote in the elections. When you have hit the age of 18 you have the opportunity to get married. There are a lot of responsibilities associated with becoming a legal adult, and there’s no reason this should be raised or lowered.

  • 18 is the age

18 is the age of officially becoming an adult; don't mess with it. Even at 18, some people are still immature (heck, some stay that way when they are 40!). It strongly depends on the person whether they are mature enough to be considered adults or not, but for legal reasons, it is reasonable to set the age at 18.

  • No, 17 year olds are not adults.

I do not believe that the age of legal adulthood should be lowered at all. There are certain responsibilities that come with various ages. For example, at age 18, a young person can register to vote. The person can also get married and enlist. There are a lot of responsibilities associated with becoming a legal adult, and there's no reason this should be lowered to an age where someone is still, in many respects, a child.
