Should teens be allowed a period to sleep during school hours?

  • Support it fully

Compared to the past, the amount of school work is double possibly triple than it was before. On top of that, to just get into college students need to participate i more than one extra curricular activity just to be in the "norm". While it is true that if we put our electronics down we would be able to get to sleep earlier, the tremendous amount of homework one gets each nights would still lead to sleeping late at night.

  • Yes, with the change in the body, they need more sleep

The life of a teenager is different than it was even 20 years ago. They are getting more complex jobs at a younger age and partying harder. With facebook and twitter and all different ways of socializing, teens are not getting enough sleep. On top of that there is the age old reason of Hormones. The body is changing and they need sleep.

  • If they ask for it.

Yes, teens should be allowed a period to sleep during school hours, because naps are good for everyone. There were even some presidents who made a point of taking a nap each day. It is helpful for students because some of them are not disciplined enough to get enough sleep at home.

  • High School Students Are Not Getting Enough Sleep When They Need It

With the massive amount of homework and the tremendous amount of lost sleep, high school students are not getting enough hours in to focus in class and fall asleep while trying to learn. They should allow them to sleep in class and leave notes for the students who fell asleep during class. Also, while this may make students happy, we should limit how much they sleep depending on their grades to confirm if they just stayed up late all night on social media or if they actually stayed up until 2 am studying for a test to get an A.

  • Yes they should.

If there are not a lot of assignments or isn't close to a semester ending so the class wouldn't have to rush, then it would be good for everyone to at least get 30 minutes or more. Some students lack the capability of sleep so they might want to stay home. But being as some parents are they make their kids go anyway, not even thinking if them sleeping would distract the teacher and the class. Honestly rephrasing my whole point. If you don't get enough sleep, do NOT go to school. It will waste others' time and the teacher's time so it isn't worth it. You can make up the work later on... If you care enough to do s that is

  • That is ridiculous

Kids are at school,to engage and learn not,to,sleep. Surely they can manage to get through 6 hours of school without needing a nap.

There is too, much to get through in the curriculum to schedule nap time like they had in Kindergarten.

If they switched off their devices and went to bed a reasonable hour at night then it would not happens.

  • No, there should not be a sleep period in school.

Although teens need twelve hours of sleep a day there is not a need for a period in school to sleep. Most teens are not athletes and need the academic structure more than a period to sleep. School athletes would need an extra hour or two to sleep during competition otherwise; they are falling asleep in classes that are vital to their academic success. Besides the fact that teens are growing dramatically during the teen years only those who are athletes are able to actually fall asleep during an assigned period.

  • No, They Shouldn't

I may be 30 years old, but I remember high school like it was yesterday. Teens do not need a period to sleep during school hours. Even if this time was given, it is really unlikely that a teenager is going to lay down and take a nap. Start schools later and run them into the evening.

  • Necessary, but impractical

Teens nowadays need much more sleep then they are getting, with school-related stress at an all time high, and yet at the same time, that would be a waste of valuable school time. School is for learning, and there is barely enough time in the day as is for academic lessons. Teens can nap when they get home, and if schools deem it necessary, they can just end the day earlier.
