  • Thanksgiving Has a Bigger Meaning

Just because Thanksgiving is near Christmas doesn't mean it doesn't count as a holiday. Hanukkah and Kwanzaa are also near Christmas but you don't hear anyone complaining for that. Plus, they are two different things. Christmas is celebrating the birth of Jesus and being with friends and family. Thanksgiving is a day for commemorating thanks for all of the good things you were blessed with, like food and family. So, you get together with your family and have a feast. I think that's a nice holiday.

  • Food is why it must stay.

Food food good food, mashed potatoes food fooood turkey foooooodddd pumpkin pie foooooddddddd I love food and you can't take it away from me <3 food good foooooooooddddd breeeaddd with butter foooood food food food good foooooood *drools thinking about food (aka the bae) and that's why thanksgiving shall stay a holiday and if you get rid of it you'll have me to deal with!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE SPOKEN!!!!

  • Remember the History, people!

Thanksgiving is an important holiday because it goes back in our nation's history to when the Pilgrims and Native Americans helped each other out and celebrated their harvest. This question is yet another example of how people are so ignorant of history. History repeats itself a lot, so saying it "doesn't even matter anymore" is not taking into consideration history, and traditions. This holiday is a lot of times related back to the topic of traditions, because many families like to say what their thankful for. The point is, it's a holiday that isn't only about the pilgrims, but taking and remembering their example by celebrating what WE are thankful for today.

  • No you don't need thanksgiving

Over forty eight millions turkeys in the world are killed for Thanksgiving. Since we still eat (and kill) turkeys in Christmas, after a couple of years all the turkeys would probably be gone, forever. Thanksgiving is just a big waste if there were no more turkeys left in the world! And I checked the yes side, people are saying it should be a holiday because of the good foods. But it is not the government LAW that you could only eat these on Thanksgiving, you could eat them anytime. Let's try saving some of our animals. Even though you should still remember the history of Thanksgiving, you could still be thankful for those Native Americans in other times, too. So we should not have Thanksgiving and no where else except America celebrates it.

  • Christmas is asserting its dominance over the weaker holiday.

Deathbeard feels that survival of the fittest also applies to holidays. If the people, whether by commercialism or personal preference, show they want thanksgiving replaced by two month Christmas, that is the essence of freedom. It is just nature if inferior holidays die out at the hands of a superior one.

    Deathbeard has spoken.
