Should the Christopher Knight, the North Pond Hermit be left to live peacefully?

  • Yes, Christopher Knight should be left to live peacefully

Christopher Knight, the North Pond Hermit, had lived for almost 27 years without human contact. He deserves to live peacefully but because he stole supplies he was arrested and put in jail. His crimes are minor and his lifestyle should be respected. He may have mental health problems but has really done no harm.

  • Yes, he should.

Knight, now 50, is living in the community and remains on probation, which is set to end in March 2018, according to the state Department of Corrections website. Knight’s sentencing hearing came after he completed a specialty court program designed to help people with substance abuse and mental health problems. At that hearing, Justice Nancy Mills said, “The most important thing that Christopher has told me since October 2013 is that he has learned in this court that he can live the life he wants to live without breaking the law.”

  • Yes, he should.

Knight just wants to be left alone. Rather than arresting him or forcing him to socialized with other people, the community should come together to help him. He has not hurt anyone else and he needs very little to be able to survive the way he wants to . He is not a bad person.

  • We Should All Live in Peace

He should be left to live peacefully because that is what he wants but society and the government will not let that happen because we all have to pay just to exist on this earth nowadays. There's property taxes and such. There are so many things that prevent us from living freely in the truest sense of the term.
