  • Yes, the criminal justice system should be changed.

The current criminal justice system is fraught with failures, from inconsistency and insufficiency of sentencing, to early release of violent offenders due to overcrowding, to failure to properly monitor paroled offenders. Change is needed at virtually every level to fix these problems. However, change could be as simple as mandating more even penalties, therefore reducing the ambiguity that is involved in enforcing these penalties and monitoring their implementation.

  • Yes, it should.

To borrow a comment from someone else, America has the most prisoners next to Russia! This is NOT a good thing! These are people who are being taken out of the work environment and placed into a situation where the government has to pay to house, feed and keep them healthy for X amount of time. For decidedly criminal activities, this is fine. However, for parking tickets or minor offenses, this is an unhealthy drain on the system. Moreover, the justice system focuses more on incarceration than it does on rehabilitation. These people get out and many of them have no options or ability to do anything other than go right back inside.

  • America has most prisoners next to Russia, people are being punished.

It should not be changed. There are far too many cases that have brought justice in regulating crime than ones that have not. Our justice system is doing its job by punishing the unjust and freeing the unguilty. No matter what you will always encounter people who can get around the system. That does not mean the system is weak.

I say anyone who breaks the law in 'merica, should be treated like the jews were during the holocaust and we should make prisons into Concentration-like Camps.
