  • 8 is the age of adulthood in the United States, and adults should have the right to make their own decisions about alcohol consumption.

Turning 18 entails receiving the rights and responsibilities of adulthood to vote, smoke cigarettes, serve on juries, get married, sign contracts, be prosecuted as adults, and join the military - which includes risking one's life.

Lowering MLDA from 21 to 18 would diminish the thrill of breaking the law to get a drink. Normalizing alcohol consumption as something done responsibly in moderation will make drinking alcohol less of a taboo for young adults entering college and the workforce

  • These teens just want to drink because all these actors fantasize alcohol.

We hear these celebrities making songs about drinking and partying making it sound like drinking is the coolest thing ever. So when kids and teenagers feel that they need to drink. So all those people who say that this law is why we see so much underage drinking are wrong. The only reason people want to drink is because they see their role models on tv drinking.

  • Unhealthy For Teens

The Liver doesn't fully develop until 21, and the part of the brain that makes critical decisions isn't developed until 25! Teen bodies are not physically mature yet at this age. If anything, the drinking age should be raised to 25-- not lowered. I personally won't start drinking myself until 25 -- as a personal decision.

  • The drinking age should not be lowered to 18

If anything it should be raised to 30. American teens are given so many excuses to fail there is no reason to give them another one to use. If they have underdeveloped brains with little impulse control why allow them to use a mind altering substance to pad this excuse. The ages to enlist in the military and to vote should also be raised, if a seventeen year old can be tried as a minor for murder then an eighteen year old should not be expected to research and makes choices about who to vote for or to make the choice to serve and die for his/her country.

  • No Way Hozay

In Australia it is eighteen and I wish for it to be 21. Your body only mainly finishes developing physically at the age of 21, but even then it's got some things to work on! Alcohol should not interfere with the natural human process of developing so the drinking age should stay at what it is.
