  • Elderly people should not pay

Providing our senior citizens with free public transportation will encourage them to ‘make the most of it’ and will not be using their cars, which means fewer car accidents on our roads. Elderly people need the public transport, mainly because we need fewer of them driving on the roads to reduce the amount of crashes and accidents that have occurred previously.

  • Yes they should

The elderly are very old and cannot do some of the things we do now. Most elderly people have retired and aren't making anymore money. They're just living on their savings. Usually, elderly like visiting their grandchildren or children or at least going somewhere, and they are the people with the most time on their hands so they would be using the bus a lot. Why should they have to pay money to get to the store that's only about a mile away? Adults and children could just walk there, but elderly have to pay $2 because they can't. That isn't right.

  • Yes of course

Old people in general aren't as aware of their surrounding as their younger counterparts. When they are driving they can cause wrecks due to this. If we put them on busses it can make things easier for them . Also it can prevent accidents. Diving can be difficult for them so this can improve their lives.

  • Yes or no?

Elders and other people with disability should get free bus passes.
Most elders can't drive and it is hard to get around.
They could be sick and can't drive their own car to the hospital or whatever…..
At the same time, i feel like this is a no.
We, in the world could never figure this problem out

  • Definitely they should

I think that elders have really been here for us our whole lives and since at one point they lose their driving licence, I think it would be great to give them a way of transportation instead of making them walk. It would be so nice of the community to agree.

  • Yes They Should

Some of these people are like they are old and will die soon why should they get free bus passes when pregnant woman and soldiers don't. If they really don't have that long to live so their final years can be good rather than than having to walk every where they go?

  • Should the elderly get free bus rides.

I think yes because a lot of elderly's usually do not have a car because they have bad hearing or super bad eye site , or some have old timer's and that can really effect the person like a old person . S o that;s why I think the elderly should get a free bus ride.

  • Yes they should!

Eldery people are getting old and have weak bones. It's harder to travel on feet. And it might be hard to get money. We should be kind and generous and give them free bus rides. No matter how much space they take or how mean they are, they're getting old and at the end of they're days. :)

  • Yes they should

Yes they should get free bus rides because they have trouble walking and also getting place to place. I think we could at least help them a little. They have trouble carrying their bags and things like that and I think we could help them out. So yes I think we should give them free bus rides so they could get where they need or trying to go,

  • They are people

Since they are people they should pay like normal people. It doesn't matter how old you are, you still should pay bus fare. The fare sometimes varies depending on the bus service. Frail or no frail old people should always pay bus fare. Getting free rides is like getting a free super bowl ticket.

  • No the elderly shouldn't.

Should the elderly be receiving special treatment because they are old? No of course not. Many people do not receive free bus passes. Many people do not have money to even ride the bus so they walk, because they use all the money they have to feed their family and put a roof over their heads. The elderly should not receive free bus passes because they should be treated like everyone else.
Elderly people are old but that does not mean that they should get special treatment. Old people may tire easily and be frail but they never got free passes before so why should they get them now? They managed just fine before and the fee is not that high. There are also many places the elderly can go if they are in dire need of money. Elderly people get treated with more care and sympathy because people pity the older person’s weakness and frail body. When you meet someone you know has only a bit of time left to live you treat them better, you are kinder and more gentle. They should be treated like everyone else even though people some people believe that the elderly are so much more frail. Some elderly people will snarl if you try to pity them. Elderly people get treated different because they look tired or walk hunched over. If older people can go to places to get money in sympathy because they are old why is it that they seem to need free bus passes? The elderly already get sympathy for almost everything they do. They don’t need bus passes too. They may not have a lot of time left but neither does anyone. Young people die in freak accidents everyday. You never know how much time you have left so you can not squander it. Older people must realize that there are people out there that deserve the free bus passes but must make due on their own.
Just as pregnant women and soldiers who served our country do not get free us passes why should older people. People who served our country and lost limbs fighting for our safety should be the ones getting free bus passes. Patriotic men and women who have scars fighting for our freedom while we sit at home and make this world a worse place to be should be the only ones who get free bus passes. Elderly can not fight in wars, they are not as strong as the rest of the community of younger people. They have not been through what the soldiers have and can not serve our country in that way. The soldiers who lost limbs fighting and having to go through the pain of losing that limb should have the free passes not the old people who must sit on the communities shoulders and ride it out until they pass away.

  • No way jose

If elderly people get free bus rides we all need too! I think freaking people that fought in the war should get the dang free bus ride, dawg! Its a true fact JACK! Oh By the way i live in the ocean and im a giant purple octopus. Peace out.

  • Makes it more expensive for the rest of us!

If sometime is straight-up FREE people take advantage of it (think all-you-eat-buffet). If you want to give old people something (and I'm not sure why we should) then give them a significant discount instead, that way they wouldn't overuse this service. Seriously my bus home is £5.60 and 90% of the people on it are OAPs.

  • No free rides

I was on a bus and this person who looked no where near 50 but had the card got on for free. Then took up 3 seats with the junk he seem to have no problem carrying. On another istance the drunk/high elderly or not elderly was on the bus and the driver forced someone up to allow a person who dipped into to much weed to sit down that is why. There are to many abusers out there so condemn them all and let them figure it out.

  • Elderly are Wealthier

Elderly people should not get free bus rides. On average, elderly people have worked their entire lives and are better off than those younger people who have not accumulated as much wealth and yet are forced to subsidize wealthy peoples' bus rides. It just does not make sense economically or from a policy perspective.

  • Free is Wrong

We are all similar people in this world with certain gifted amenities from the freedom obtained in our country. The fact that the elderly get to abuse our liberty and take over public transport is obscure. If you're on a bus and an elder gets on, you feel like you have no choice but to give your seat. The seat you paid for and they are squandering. What kind of system is this? We could go back to Rosa Parks. They got to keep their paid seat, and we should too. Most elderly have cell phones, and if they can afford a months rent, cell bill, water and heating charges, and food as well, they can surely afford a bus pass.

  • Nose because nose

Because much people puede salir lastimda bat the is alirobet good for the personas que les gusta pero puede a ver muncho peligra en las carreras poreso no tienen que correr con eso much people like people que las personas se lastimen poreso no es bueno aser eso you like

  • No, they should not free bus rides.

When you ride on the bus, it means you are using a public service and you have to pay, no matter how old you are. In addition, the number of elders are increasing rapidly and the number of newborns aren't increasing. We cannot have the elders enjoying all the services and no people working, can we? There are no free lunch in the world, are there? We are in one same community, using the same service, so no matter how old we are, we should pay for the service. No free bus rides for the elderly!
