Should the Eygpt be allowed to sentence 528 people to death?

  • It was a crime committed by the Egyptian justice system

528 people. 2 hour trial. No defense barristers allowed to be present ?? This was not an act of justice but of murder. Those accused and put on trial should have been given the option to defend themselves against an accusation. It is disgusting and in my opinion has put into great question the workings of Egyptian law keepers. In only a 2 HOUR TRIAL 528 lives were determined to death. United Nations should be ashamed of themselves for not intervening in this clear disregard of human rights. Every one whether they are guilty or innocent deserves a chance to represent a defense case on trial. Not this mass of people should be trialed together in a single trial. And the death penalty for all these hundreds and indirectly families of those loved ones, should have been questioned and considered carefully over a longer period of time ( not in 2 hours) and not have been the sentence those people should have received. Evidently, this trial was fixed and a clear intention to kill the 528 people was made before the trial had even begun - what was the point of the trial when the world knows the truth. It is horrific and all those involved in killing those 528 should be disgusted with themselves. No justice was served.

  • If they've broke Egyptian law

The people being executed broke the law and they probably deserve it. 528 is a lot but it would be like America holding every trial and execution at the same time. Egypt has its own laws and it has the death penalty. The people on death row deserve to die if an Egyptian jury sentences them to death.

  • If it's legal under Egyptian law, why not?

This is not a discussion of whether we think this is morally right or wrong. The country of Egypt is a sovereign nation recognized by the UN, and has it's own code of law. Unless any serious human rights violations are found to be occurring, we have no reason to be stepping in.

  • It's outrageous slack of them

No i do not think they all should be sentenced to death for one police officer? Yes i do think if they were all to do with the death they should. Because of justice, justice does have to be served yes however i doubt they all are to do with one killing? It's just a slack outrageous move of the Egyptian to make.

  • Egypt should not have been allowed to sentence 528 people to death.

Egypt should not have been allowed to sentence 528 people to death. This is pretty insane that they are allowing this to even be considered. However, they have already made their decision and seems that it will be carried out until something drastic is done. They only allowed 16 people to go free in the case.

  • They are murderers.

No, the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood should not be allowed to sentenced 528 people to death, because they have overstepped their authority. What is worse is that these people are martyrs. They are only being killed because they are Christian. For everything we preach about religious tolerance, we should say something about this.

  • No, Egypt should not have the ability to sentence 528 people to death.

Egypt should not have the ability to sentence 528 people to death. While their law does allow the execution of the prisoners, the death penalty should be reserved for heinous crimes which harm society as a whole. The death penalty should not be applied to criminals who were only supporting a government that they were likely raised to believe was the only true way to govern their country.

  • No Death Sentence

I do not support capital punishment and the death penalty. I do not believe Egypt should be allowed to sentence 528 people to death. However, since I don't live in Egypt it's not directly my responsibility or my problem. Ultimately it is up to the United Nations, rather or not this should be allowed.
