Should the federal government cut spending to the pre-WWI rate?

  • Less Tax-Payer Funded Waste

The government should not be spending as much money as it is now. In fact, the only reason it adopted an income tax and began borrowing money from other countries was because we entered World War I and then there was a massive depression and then came World War II. This type of situation is not happening right now, yet the government has found ways to spend all of this extra cash. Mostly the non-military money goes to social programs, bailouts, subsidies, welfare, grants, and bureaucrats. This means that we could cut all of those unnecessary things and we could lower the income tax to a flat rate of 5%. That is more than enough to run a federal government, especially considering that we have the biggest economy in the world, and thus 5% means a lot.
