While it might seem against rational thought, providing additional income to seniors and retirees is of benefit to all of us. Additional benefits will allow seniors and retirees to pay more of their own costs of living, especially in terms of health care, and will prevent more seniors and retirees from drifting into poverty.
If the government is going to exist, it should exist to make sure that people are healthy, educated, and have their basic needs covered. The argument that we don't have enough money is flawed. Somehow we have money to pay to kill people, but not money to help people? There is a problem there.
I truly think that this is a good idea because if someone is a retiree means that they have retired, which also means that they have worked their whole life to be able to retire and therefore yes they should increase the Social Security benefits so that at least the retirees can end their life living comfortably and happy - with good benefits being well taken care of.
No, I do not believe the government should not increase Social Security benefits for retirees as the government does not have enough budget money to spend on these type of things. People need to be responsible for their own financial future, and it should not be up to the government to support their poor planning.
