Providing free health care to the homeless, many of whom are veterans who have served our country in wars, is the right and only thing to do. Doing so also protects the rest of the population by not spreading disease. It is the responsible thing to do, and in fact our country should provide regular health care to them, not just as-needed.
These people already don't have a stable home, and they are probably going to be having a hard time with getting enough sleep or getting access to decent meals. If we expect them to have a hope of getting off the streets and back to being productive members of society, then we can't have them becoming riddled with diseases because they are in a rough situation and can't get proper medical treatment for it.
The fact that we are the only industrial nation without national health care is shameful. There is no reason anyone should have to chose between medical care and putting food on the table. We need universal health care, and we need it right now! There is no excuse for us not to have it. Our politicians are in the pockets of the health care lobby.
Anyone can put out in the streets for a numerous reasons. I believe that everyone, no matter what race, religion or social and class status, has the right to health care. We do not know a person's situation as to why they are homeless. It doesn't matter how bad you think you have it, someone has it much worse!
Every human, every citizen deserves longer and healthy life. If homeless people rely on the public resources for shelter, and cannot even feed themselves, where else do we expect them to get health care from? Not only do they need medical treatment, they also need education on how to maintain their health (from drug addiction) and how they can be useful and contribute to the American society.
It's not just those without homes that deserve to be able to walk into a medical facility and get treatment without wondering if it will put them in debt forever. A government run universal health care system is the only way to truly reduce health care costs in the short and long term.

Right now, our government isn't in a place to cause tax hikes for our richer americans to provide for the homeless. Our debt is at an all time high, before we can even think about offering these government funded programs we need to get our economy back on track, get more people into the workforce, fix our debt then we can start worrying about OUR citizens and what help they need, not worrying about other countries. By doing this we will restore our supremacy over the world. And I do believe America is the best country in the world and I am beyond proud to call it home.
The government is already too big, and the debt is too high. This is another way to waste taxpayer money. This is socialism. The government is not to involve itself in every single frikkin matter wheter personal or economical like it does now. FREE is NOT FREE. FREE=TAX. Private charities for welfare.
