  • YES ban it!

The n-word is the only remaining embodiment of the terrible past of segregation and slavery the African American people endured. If we can stop acknowledging that past and move on from the bad memories of it, then we can advance ourselves as a nation. I believe that we need to remember the consequences of slavery, but not the identities placed on the slaves themselves.

  • Speaking Racists Causes Bigger Problems

It's always inappropriate and wrong to call other people according to race, to be called something that is racists and offends them, which can lead to big violent fights. We need to learn to be more respectful towards people, no matter what race they may be. And pray that our saying and actions does not get passed on to our kids of the generations. And we can agree that no one likes to be offended when it comes to our race. We all hate to be called by another name that hasn't been used in decades to start again. Before we know it, it will go out of hand and it'll lead to much bigger fights that could go without end. This is the reason why we need more peace in and out of America, and less to no more violence. Violence will never solve our problems, it just destroys, kills, and makes matters much worse than before.

  • Why use it at all????

The n word should definitely be banned. It should not just be categorized for some a particular race. If this word is really offensive, why do blacks use it among themselves. On the media, you see black people using the n word anyhow but once it is used by people of another race, it becomes disturbing. To end this problem about this "n word", the word used be removed entirely and NOONE should be allowed to use it. This would prevent future generations from using this word while ignorant and unintentionally offending someone. The word is racist for sure but that doesn't mean a race can use it and another can't. When a word is bad, it should be bad for all

  • Yes the "N" should be banned. Is there anything positive about this word?

I think not. The only word similar to the "N" that could be used if you're speaking Spanish is Negro (which only to be used to express a color) basically meaning black in Spanish. Which now has transcend in a derogatory and disrespectful manner. Some how people have accepted this as ok. Which it's not. One has to ask themselves. Why? What good reason does anyone say the word for . There is none. People say freedom of speech. That people is a cop-out. The "N" is a dirty word and that goes for all other racial slurs. Which brings to the point , that no other racial term is under fire like "N". No one goes around in regular everyday conversation or in music (hip-hop/rap is hardly music) speaking of Mexicans and Caucasian in offensive racial slurs. There's a double standard that been accepted. In addition you also have belief of N**ga and N***er have different meaning. Wow! That in itself is violation. Ask a wise older person or rather mature adult about the "N" word, most know, or have experienced racial turmoil, or have been racist themselves use of the "N" word wrong and needs to be banned so that part of history can forever be history respect your ancestors and there struggle. Stupidity is a chose not a lifestyle.

  • People sure are scared

People so scared to be offensive, even here on the internet that they still type ''n-word'' it's NIGGER, not that difficult of a word to type.

It doesn't seem usefull to ban the word nigger, I mean what's the point, if anything it's helpfull that people keep using the word nigger in a good way that way it will lose it's purpose of being offensive

  • While I think the word is awful, you can't ban it.

The 'n-word' is an awful word that is linked to a history of violence and cruelty. But no word can be banned. In the United States, people are allowed to speak their minds, and they have the right to their own opinions. While some people's beliefs are awful and sometimes seem very wrong, they have the right to say whatever they want, no matter how terrible. So I think that no word can be banned, no matter how terrible. But I also think that people should be more respectful by not throwing a word like this around. This word is offensive to millions of people, and while it cannot be banned, people really have no reason to use the word.

  • You cant just ban a word

What happens to freedom of speech? Besides what would be the consequences? I cant get a ticket because of how i speak. What people need to start doing is knowing to not say it and not put it in young minds. But banning it is definitely not the answer because is obvious that the more you prohibit a human from dong something the more they do it.

  • Opinion on the word is based on how you view heritage and ancestry.

The heart of the issue is based purely on the different way white and black people view their own ancestry. Black people obviously have a strong connection with their heritage and believe that who they are is influenced by this factor. White people feel this way too but some of us to a lesser degree. At what point in your geneaology can you say you are an individual and no longer dependent of your ancestor's genetics to shape who you are? Is your greatest of grandparent's still a factor in who you are as much as say a incredibly distant cousin? How this ties into the use of the N word is very integral. I feel at some point in the geneaology we are our own people and shouldn't be held accountable for the actions of our forefathers. Everybody should be able to use the word though it's usage should be only between the closet of friends as I understand the pain that can be felt from hearing it. But that pain should be only from hearing it, not it's source. At that point, it's just resentment.

  • The n word shouldnt be banned.

The word was never the problem, the problem is the context of the word. During the slavery times it was used because slave owners didnt know the african americans names. It became a racial slur throughout time. Now with everyone using the n word it changes the context of the word. Now it is used in everyday conversations, so if the meaning of the word has changed, why even worry about it. Their are so many problems in the country, why even worry about a word. They wouldnt be able to ban the word because that would be unconstitutional due to the first amendment.
