We will never know everything that went on during that fateful flight, but if all the passengers had known everything that was going on that day, I'm sure they would have tried to fight back against the hijackers. Reportedly they were armed with knives and box cutters, not guns, so they could not kill many people quickly. It might be that they threatened certain people on the plane in order to gain compliance from the others, it's difficult to say. We also do not know where the plane might have gone down had they fought back - there was still a good chance it would crash, and it might not have been able to go into a field as the plane in Pennsylvania did.
The passengers aboard AA Flight 77 should have tried to fight back against the hijackers. Although it is wrong to blame people who have passed because a crime was committed against them, it would have been good if they could have fought the terrorists off. Perhaps they would still have been alive today.
I think that the passengers aboard AA Flight 77 should have tried to fight back against the hijackers. But with that said, hindsight is always 20/20. There is no way that the passengers aboard that flight could have known that it was going to be a suicide type of attack.
Yes, the passengers of AA Flight 77 needed to try to save themselves by fighting back against the hijackers present on the plane. By taking a passive stance and failing to engage the terrorists before the plane reached its destination, they allowed themselves to be victims instead of trying to take command of their own destinies. While they may have assisted with deterring the terrorists from completing their initial objective, they failed to prevent their own demise or deflect further damage to the American people.
I believe it is morally wrong to assume that the Flight 77 passengers should have tried to fight back against the hijackers. Every last one of these people is gone and no one knows exactly what they lived through in their last hours. To say 12 years later that they should have done more is highly disrespectful.
