Should the production of electrical products with conflict minerals be banned?

Asked by: Monteray
  • Slavery is used to produce conflict minerals

Conflict minerals are harvested through slave labor. Whether by people forced to work for a livelihood or literally forced to stay and work for free, these minerals are mined by force of criminals. These people should really be taken out in drone strikes, to strike fear in any who would attempt slavery. No production should take place using conflict minerals until conflict minerals are no longer being produced, at which point a fair price should be paid for these minerals and the proceeds should go to the workers and their families. The world should form a common ban on the production of electrical products with conflict minerals.

  • No, electricity is energy.

No, the production of electrical products with conflict minerals should not be banned, because production of electrical products is a positive thing that can be done well with conflict minerals. Whenever there is a new way to produce energy, someone will decide there is something wrong with it. This is more political than anything. Conflict minerals are a valid energy source.
