Did we the working people cause this? Did we the working people decide to attack Iraq and spend $$$$$ or did we the people run crooked banks and stock market scams? NO...the rich paid ninety percent income tax back in the sixties, Obama is not asking asking for anything close to that. These rich s.o.b.s have not created any jobs here but they have sure as hell taken them away to every slave labor market in the world, the cheap labor. Big profit makes them very happy. This country was in far better shape under Clinton, I think a 3rd party is needed to really make America what it should be. In the mean time Obama looks better in this good cop, bad cop game they want us to believe is democracy.
They let rich people skin by with less % then the rest of us. Should they pay all of it? No we need to stop putting it on other people and every one needs to pitch in. We could take all of their money but it wouldn't put a dent in it and its I'm American. We need to cut spending. We need to stop supporting other countries when ours is failing so badly.
I'm not sure when it happened, but for the past several years the rich have been enjoying a tremendous amount of low taxation and available loopholes and their wealth has grown out of proportion to that of any other segment of the population. The notion that they have to have all this money because they are the "job creators" is just silly. The proof is that while they have been accumulating all this wealth the job market has suffered considerably. The rich should carry their fair share of the mess this country is in, even more so because they are in the position to afford it. It is unethical to my mind to ask more of seniors who really are struggling without asking more of the rich.
"You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."
There is no amount of taxation that will put a dent in the financial disarray of the United States. Spending should be cut, even severely if necessary, to get a handle on our nation's debt crisis. The "rich" already pay more than a fair share of taxes. In fact, half of the country does not pay a federal income tax at all. When taxes on job creators are raised, the likelihood that more jobs will be created decreases. It has been shown in times pass that tax CUTS actually create more revenue for the nation because they result in more jobs and more collection of taxes because more people are working. Our government should be down-sized, and lower tax rates should be instituted as a respond to the fiscal needs of our country.
Raise taxes on the rich and watch jobs be lost and investment slow. It sounds good to soak the rich but there is a reason their there and they will not allow their position to change quietly. They have a much greater control over their income and when and where they put their money.
