Should the U.S. be involved in the global war on poverty?

  • The U.S. Should be involved in the global war on poverty.

Those with power have the responsibility to advocate for others who do not have power. While the United States is not essentially responsible for worldwide hunger, it is my opinion that we are in the position of responsiblity to provide aid. It should not take priority over our own citizens' hunger, but at the same time our nation definitely has its fair share of resources.

  • No, we cannot pay for everyone.

No, the United States be involved in the global war on poverty, because income redistribution does not work on a large scale, or a small one. Redistributing wealth and giving handouts will not change the fundamental structures of these countries. These basic structures, that lack private property rights, are the reasons these countries are poor. This should be exported, not corn.
