  • Heroin should be legal but regulated

Firstly, what a person does with his own body is his own business. Making and selling heroin is another story. However, if we wish to protect people from heroin, the best we can do is enforce strict regulations on it. Outlawing it simply pushes it to the black market, where it cannot be regulated at all.

  • No, but prison isn't the answer either.

First off, the police can't even keep drugs out of prisons, much less the streets. So somebody arrested for heroin could just trade Ramon Noodles, from what I've heard that's what people trade with in prison, to maintain their addiction in prison. Heroin deserves to be illegal, but addicts need to be treated rather than be made worse in prison which will give them a record as well.
