Should the U.S. military use 'enhanced interrogation techniques'?

  • We must defend against all attacks.

If it was your family they were launching attacks on, would you be okay with that? You're going to just allow them to do it when we could be taking action and protecting them? George Bush says all you need to hear: "Every nation in every region now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists."

  • Yes

Lives are at stake and if enhanced interrogation is the way to save our lives and this country then yes. Being friendly to a terrorist isn't going to get us anywhere. If it makes the US look bad, well who cares. It doesnt by the way. It makes us look like we're not playing games and we will always do whatever we have to to protect our country. Should we be friendly to terrorists when they have plans to demolish our men, women, and children? No, we do what we have to to keep this country free.

The usa is in danger we need safety why not it will help America ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba

  • We must defend and protect ourselves.

If other countries are willing to go to extremes to hurt us than why don't we have the right to go to extremes to protect ourselves. Hell if there is an American citizen who is conspiring against us that is treason and they deserve the same. Rules are put into place for a reason. People who break rules by conspiring and murdering etc deserve whatever means necessary to obtain justice.

  • Yes we should

People tend to forget that we are dealing with complete scum and the lowest of the low. The men we torture are killing the innocent for sport. If what we are doing is saving the lives of innocent American men women and children, then I believe that it is all fair.

  • Yes, we should

Would you rather have us gain information or more Americans die and by doing that, we do some bad stuff to some people that may kill you or somebody you love one day. Also many people have been killed by terrorist attacks. If doing enhanced interrogation saves lives and is going to stop people from dying and jumping out of windows 80 stories off the ground.

  • Absolutely not. No way!

Is torturing really the way of getting the truth out. I mean come on America. We're better than this. Its bad enough that people used to do it but the U.S. Really?! Now imagine you were the one being tortured i don't think you or anyone else would like it so why do it to other people.

  • I say No!

The reason I say no is because there are many different ways to do interrogation and a lot of those ways is by hurting someone or death. There is another way that you can get answers. Manipulation is a great and pain-free way to get the answers that you need!

  • How about oblivious people?

What if you find people who do not know the answer and you keep on torturing them, causing you to be the bad guy.The people would lose all will to live and would probably die of some kind of trauma, in conclusion it is just stupid to use enhanced interrogation techniques.

  • Enhanced interrogations doesn't even help...

If a person gets out of enhanced interrogations they could tell people to be ready for it. People might even start riots about it. Torture would just make the terrorists thrive to even worse things than before. Also, torture is not, nor will ever be, a way to treat somebody. Even if they have done worse than that.

  • Stop Abusing People

If history has shown us anything, it is that treating people badly, rarely gets you what you want. "Enhanced interrogation techniques," is the same thing as abuse and something that the Geneva Code does not allow for. The people we have should be fairly prosecuted or freed. It's nice to gain knowledge but someone shouldn't be brought to the brink of death to obtain a little knowledge.

  • Coercion doesn't establish truth

Torture (or "enhanced interrogation techniques" if I'm using vague political language) is designed for the extraction of the truth, and it does everything but. When one's airway is obstructed by water almost to the point of death, they will do anything to relieve themselves of that pain and attempt to survive, including lie. The human survival instinct doesn't know truth or pride. Therefore, the one thing that torture is supposed to do, it can't do. Of course that's not to mention all of the ethical reasons to end enhanced interrogation. I don't believe that any country can call itself "civilized" when it allows its soldiers to drag war prisoners around a dungeon by their genitalia. Supporters say, "They are bad guys who have done bad things," but they forget that many of these prisoners are only accused, not convicted. Also, by torturing them, are we not just as bad as we have accused them of being? What kind of image are we sending to the world when we support such primitive brutality?

  • NO. Bad Idea.

Enhanced Interrogation" as you might call it is inhumane and it won't help. This strategy is not helpful and it tortures some innocent people just because they are suspected to be a terrorist. What if they are not a terrorist? That is horrible. It also will not work, because while you are being tortured, all you are going to be able to say is; "Ow! Make it stop! Please!"

  • no we shouldn't

Enhanced interrogation is too much. Even what the U.S. Does right now is enough. Have you seen anything about water boarding? It is torturous. It feels like the people are drowning because of the inhalation of water and there is a cloth on top of their mouth and nose to decrease breathing. Even though terrorists have done many horrible things to us, we shouldn't do any bad acts to counter them. Then people will think that the US is a warring country and target us as a threat.
Interrogation is ok, but if we enhance it it will become inhumane.

  • NO! NEVER! NADA!

We have quickly become monsters in our fight against perceived monsters. I am ashamed that my country would stoop so low as to torture people. I think we will be condemned for it in the eyes of history. Let's stop now.
Furthermore, torture doesn't even work. People being tortured will say anything to stop the pain. Torture extracts obedience, not truth, and it is a mark upon our country's honor.
