  • Any act that puts a child at the risk for "harm" should be prohibited. Parents do not have the right to "kill" their children.

Parents do not have the right to kill their children by any form! A slow death is just as bad as a quick death. Smoking is a form of slowly killing their children. Child abuse comes in many forms, verbal, physical, emotional, and I consider smoking to be a physical.

  • Yes yes yes!

Smoking is harmful even if it is secondhand smoke! Idk how such a law could come about, but I believe you shouldn't harm others such as children with smoking when it harms them not only you. My grandma was a smoker...And guess what? She passed away last August due to lung cancer. So, I am anti-smoking and anti-smoking around kids.

  • Impossible, but i agree

While I believe that smoking should be banned completely, I know as a realist that this will never happen. Its just too hard to prove, now i can see if the child developed say lung cancer or something along those lines how the parent should be punished, but that is one of the few scenarios i see this happening.

  • Yes

First because pseudo smoking is more dangerous and it affects the innocent people more than the smoker him/herself.
Second Although they are well aware of its circumstances still cause of their addiction they are not able to get out of it. so they wouldn't like to see their children going into the same depth from where its hard to get out.
Third: A child's first inspiration their parents.

  • Yes

I think so just because we need to protect the children from becoming sick.Because even the residue that the cancer sticks leave on your clothes can make your children sick. Now can it be enforced I don't know its like telling people they can't talk on cell phones while driving because it can kill you, in certain states that law is a joke.

  • Should?

Should there be? Yes. Is it feasible? no.

  • sigh

while i believe that parents should never smoke around their children, i have to agree that this would be impossible to police.

  • Smoking in its entirety should be banned

smoking kills people all around you. It kills yourself. techinically it is a form of suicide. There is a law banning suicide there smoking should be banned. Simple logic.

  • Lol, Just....no.. adults should be responsible

    this is just silly

  • sadolite

No, there should be a law preventing snot nosed little kids from bothering me while I have a smoke after I go through all the effort to go outside and find a peaceful place to have a smoke in peace with no one around.

  • Um.

    It would never work.

  • As a theory, it sounds great.

How to implement it? You can't do anything to enforce it, and finding evidence for it is pretty sketchy.

  • good idea...but...

impossible to implement. Great idea in theory to help kids...but yea can't implement it.

  • Impossible.

While I believe that it is wrong to smoke around their children, I have to say that this will violate people's free will. This law will also be impossible to uphold. That is the law, a religous dictator would make.

  • Stupid

    And also impossible to implement

  • Impossible to uphold.

Unless the smoking is in public, or a concerned person calls you out on it after seeing it in private, there is no way to really tell it is going on, nor can you really prosecute against it. At least with child abuse, you have bruising and the like; you don't even get that with smoking near a child.

  • Who will make sure that parents will not smoke in their homes?

Actually, it will be complete nonsense to make such a law. We can make it, but who is going to implement it? For it to work we would need a bodyguard for each smoker who will make sure that he is not going to smoke in front of his children.

  • Care to tell me how we are suppose to enforce such a law?

There is no way we could enforce a law like that. However, it should be discouraged.
