Should Ukraine take all its bases and equipment north out of Crimea if Crimea joins Russia

Asked by: MasturDbtor
  • If they decide so.

A sovereign country can decide for itself if it does or does not want foreign military bases on it's territory. Crimea is not likely to grant such permission to Ukraine, and under international law, Ukraine would be forced to leave Crimea. If Crimea joins Russia, Russia definitely would have the Ukrainian bases pack up and leave.

  • No freebies to Russia

If Crimea joins Russia then all those bases, all that military equipment is still ukrainian and Ukraine should go and dismantle their bases brick by brick and gather up all their equipment and truck it into Ukraine. If Russia wants more bases other than what they already have there they should build it themselves. Not just military but anything that belonged to the Ukrainian government should be dismantled and carried into Ukraine rather than given over to Russia.

Receiving territory does not entitle you to the property of the former government. If Ukraine can not keep Crimea it should at least demand to keep its property.

  • Yes On Weapons, Bases, Maybe No

The Ukrainian government has complete sovereignty over Crimea. That means that they have total control of the military bases and all items within them. However, equipment is probably the only thing that they are able to take. Bases are entire structures and that means that they would have to either destroy them after they have been evacuated, leave a force there to maintain the base, or just hand it over to the Russians. The third option would be a bad choice though.

  • If the Crimea decides to join Russia

The Crimea is just as much Russian as it is Ukrainian. If the people living in the area decide to join Russia then they have the right to do so. • No. Absolutely not!

This vote in Crimea is not legitimate and violates the laws of the Ukraine! I can hold a vote asking for my neighborhood to break away from the United States, but of course that means nothing because the vote isn't recognized by the U.S. government. Russia's invasion of Crimea is an outrageous violation of international law! The best response to this travesty would be international sanctions directed at Russia! No country on Earth - and this includes the United States - can do whatever please and break whatever law it wants to obtain a desired result! There will be consequences for these flagrant criminal actions!
