Should Ukrainian protesters have compromised and signed a deal with Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych?

  • Protestors were right to make a deal

Protesters were wise to make a deal with the Ukrainian president. This deal will hopefully slow the bloodshed and give the international community more time to intervene in this problem. I think a compromise also makes it less likely that Russia will intervene militarily and create even more unwanted bloodshed.

  • Compromised And Signed

I personally think that Ukraine began to show serious strains late Friday just hours after it had been signed, with angry protesters shouting down opposition members of Parliament who negotiated the accord and a militant leader threatening armed attacks if President Viktor F. Yanukovych did not step down by morning.

  • Protestors should have given in.

Ukrainian protesters should have compromised and signed a deal with Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych. This is because it would have kept more chaos at bay. Group violence is highly toxic and damaging psychologically to the country. If there was a way to keep it from going on, then the Ukraine or international forces should have introduced it.

  • Yes, the Ukrainian compromise was necessary.

Yes, the protesters should have come to a compromise and signed an agreement with President Yanukovych. As the lesson in Syria shows, just continuing to protest until armed conflict breaks out is devastating for the civilian population. Finding an agreement with which you can live until you hammer out a larger treaty is much better than suffering civilian casualties.

  • Need A New Start

I do not believe Ukrainian protesters should have compromised and signed a deal with Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych. The president had plenty of time to respond to the uprising in his country and he continued to do nothing useful about it. I believe Ukraine needs a fresh starte and his impeachment was the first step in that.
