  • Yes to uniforms

I believe imposing uniforms up to high school would be an effective measure since: it ensures uniformity between pupils; it avoids distractions from studying and it safeguards a certain level of decency. In high school, having (hopefully) secured a solid education, students should be allowed more leeway in this respect.

  • Really bro though

  • Up to the schools

Are uniforms beneficial? Maybe. An argument can be made that it takes certain social stressors off. People in uniformed professions have been noted as liking that they don't have to waste time coordinating outfits. It gives a straightforward and professional look.

There are arguments against, mostly to do with this being a student population, and the idea that kids also have a right to a certain level of personal autonomy and expression given that school is not their job, it is something they are legally mandated to do. In their best interest of course, but not by choice.

Both of these things are irrelevant to whether or not uniforms should be allowed. Schools should have the freedom to have a dress code, including the use of uniforms.

  • Uniforms are good

Schools uniforms give a sense of community and belonging in the society of the school and it means that you can not identify the richer children from the poorer ones meaning there is less discrimination based on your parents financial background. Furthermore it means that it is easy to identify whether a child is part of the school or trespassing.

  • I AGree with my fellow classmates

School uniforms ad uniformity to the freedom found in schools. Having been on both sides of the scale the removal of non uniform clothes allows for students to focus on the main task, and mimics advice from millionaire Mark Cuban, "wear the same/similar outfits daily." I look forward to your responses.

  • In Private Schools, yes.

When you enter a private school you are exiting the public sector. Just like how businesses or websites can establish certain rules for your presence there, private schools also can establish rules. Now, public schools are, as in the title, public, and thus there should not be mandatory uniforms. Private Schools, however, are inherently different.

  • Let kids wear what they want

Screw the principal, let kids have some freedom in this terrible torture called school. Stop forcing kids to go to school, or else theyll put their kids in school and continue the cycle. So, no. Hell no. If you support this kys ok you are a child abuser. Get rekt.

  • Taking away freedom of speech and expression, and can offend families. It isn't fair.

Now, some schools just want to protect students from wearing inappropriate and revealing outfits, and getting distracted by certain garments. Sometimes people can’t even afford to buy the uniforms, which can be embarrassing. What I believe is that students should be able to where what they want, and what schools should do is have a non-strict dress code, so they can monitor what students are wearing. This is a win-win for both the students and the school(s).
The first reason that supports my belief for no uniforms, but a dress code, is actually is from the United States of America’s Bill of Rights. Part of the first amendment is freedom of speech/expression, and with a uniform, students can’t express themselves and/or stand up for what they believe. When wearing uniforms, students will not be able to express and show their diversity and their personality. Now unless someone is promoting violence, wearing inappropriate clothing, etc., I don’t see why they are useful. So technically speaking, school uniforms are illegal, because they take away students freedom of speech and expression, by forcing them to look almost exactly the same.
Another example to support my opinion for why I believe that uniforms shouldn’t be allowed in schools is from a website called procon.Org. Procon.Org is a website that takes a multitude of different issues, and then posts anywhere between 12 and 15 pro’s con’s. Anyway, it states that a con about uniforms is that some people might not be able to afford uniforms that the school requires. So then if every school in their district had uniforms, their children wouldn’t be able to get the education that they deserve (comfortably), all because of a uniform and their costs. According to procon.Org, “Children's Society (UK), almost 800,000 pupils go to school in poorly fitted uniforms because their parents cannot afford new items.” For example, at a school in New Jersey, some of their clothing and garments are more expensive than $65, and altogether the costs could be over $200! Now that is expensive, and there are some people who cannot afford that.
Furthermore, some people believe that uniforms will decrease violent attacks, (cyber) bullying, number of assaults, or attendance. But that, is completely false. “Tony Volk, PhD, Associate Professor at Brock University, stated, "Overall, there is no evidence in bullying literature that supports a reduction in violence due to school uniforms. “A peer-reviewed study found that "school uniforms increased the average number of assaults by about 14 [per year] in the most violent schools." A Texas Southern University study found that school discipline incidents rose by 12% after the introduction of uniforms. A peer-reviewed study found "no significant effects of school uniforms on performance on second grade reading and mathematics examinations, as well as 10th-grade reading, mathematics, science, and history examinations... Many of the specifications, the results are negative.” * That proves uniforms in schools do not reduce the amount of assaults, violent attacks, attendance rates, or (cyber) bullying, it only has increased them.

  • Taking away freedom of speech and expression, offending families, and increasing crime, (cyber) bullying, assaults, and violent attacks. Making people upset, and just 100% unfair!
