Scientists ran an experiment to see what food would be like without color. A group of people were tested to eat colorless Cheetos. They all said that it didn't taste as good because it was gray and looked unappetizing. Scientists figured out that it was because their brains had already developed that orange and yellow were the colors of cheese so since the Cheetos were gray, their brains didn't recognize the color. More foods you eat have food dyes in them than you think. So it's worth taking a chance than to eat colorless food.

Artificial dyes have been known to be carcinogens and can put the health of citizens who ingest these dyes in jeopardy. Granted, often a large amount is required in order to cause health concerns but over the life of an individual these dyes can add up. Also, there really seems little reason to add them to foods as they do not affect taste. Why take unnecessary risks with health?

  • Prohibition doesn't work

Trying to ban artificial this or that from food is not the solution. The solution is a ready promotion of healthy foods, alongside policies that lower the cost of them. Much more people would eat healthy food if it was actually affordable, and in case people haven't realized, for many it often isn't.
