Should we put restrictions and penalties on Russian trade until basic freedoms are fully guaranteed?

  • Russia Should Be Penalized for Freedom Violations

Yes, the United States should place restrictions and penalties on Russian trade until basic freedoms are fully granted. Russia has been in terrible violation of basic human rights, going as so far to pass legislation to single out homosexuals, and this should not be tolerated. Sanctions are a good way to punish Russia for this.

  • Gay is not a "Basic Right"

Look stay out of Russia, if we talk about "Basic Rights". We probably then need to stop trades with a lot of countries, such as China. There's not many countries that that do have gay rights or gay marriage. So in that mind set, we(United States) would be a third world country, with no trades with anybody. Think logically.

  • Trade with Russia is key

While we need to make sure we are doing our part to insure the basic freedoms of Russians, restricting trade is not the answer. Free trade and a strong economy is the basis of all freedoms. Our countries benefit each other through trade, I would much prefer to see a diplomatic and humanitarian solution.
