Should we send ground troops to combat ISIS? (Keep in mind that ground troops will be multi-national UN peacekeepers)

  • No... Sort of.

Under the restrictions you placed in your opinion title, I say 'no'. UN Peacekeeping forces are not the answer. Ground forces are needed, after an overwhelming air campaign-nothing like the token bombings currently used-the ground forces need to be a fighting force, designed to kill the enemy and win the war. That will necessitate a multinational force lead by professional American soldiers under a strong president (2020?). These terrorists don't need peacekeepers; they need to be killed. It looks like America will not be leading the free world anytime soon.
