Should we stop promoting fast food to children?

Asked by: rainbowland
  • Yes we should.

Promoting fast food to children makes them think that the food is like an other food, when it is not. The food from fast food areas are more fattening and usually greasy and very unhealthy. Children do not understand this yet in life though, so we should not be advertising it to them.

  • We the people

Some parents do not have a choice. Some work all day and night just to survive. The only option is fast food. So can there really be choice? A quicker alternative needs to be established. Why does fast food have to be fried greasy foods? Something needs to be done with the relationship between fast food and children.

  • Really, we should stop promoting fast food to everyone.

Fast food leads to health issues, such as obesity, diabetes, heart attacks, depression (kind of), and many others. It that really something we want to give to the younger generations, who will once lead the world? No, it is not. We want to promote healthy foods to children so they can live a happy life and look more attractive, as well as live longer.

  • Advertising unhealthy products to children is wrong.

If a child see's a funny clown dancing and having fun at a playhouse, and at the fast food place eating a kids meal with a toy. A child would think it's a great place eat. The message would be imbedded into the child's mind that the place is a great place to go. Yes, children don't have cars or money. But since they get the idea that the fast food place is a "fun" place to eat. They'll be begging their parents when an opportunity arrives to eat there. But if the advertisement didn't happen in the first place then stopping there wouldn't cross the child's mind.
This is how advertisements work people. They target the kids to think a place is cool so they can reel them in.

  • Promote individual healthy living

Individual parents should promote healthiness. All of society "should" promote healthiness. However, this does not mean that fast food should be taken away. People should have the right to choose, but people do need to recognize that there are long term effects to what we consume.

We live in a culture that promotes immediate gratification without considering honest long term effect. Fast food is often used as a "reward" for when children are good, but the truth is - fast food is mostly unhealthy. Children who are brought up in this mindset are learning that "fast food = satisfaction", so they seek out this reward whenever they can. Unfortunately, fast food is also cheap, so when kids grow up and are out on their own - they can have lots and lots of it. Then they become more unhealthy.

As a society, we need to teach that healthiness is a "reward" and we need to promote it as the best thing if we want our future generations to live with less health related ailments. Along with that, we need to honestly promote "moderation"...But that is a different topic.

  • Children of tomorrow

If we teach our kids to eat junk food and not eat healthy food they will teach their kids the same thing, and it will be a vicious circle. Many people will be obese. The actual commercials manipulate the minds of our children. Currently, more than one in every six teenagers and children are obese.

  • It's the parents choice

Its the parent's choice if they want to feed their child that crap or not. Advertising is not making anyone do anything. People make their own decisions to go out and eat that crap. Plus the food on tv never looks the same as the real product. They advertise to children because they know children could get their parents to buy it if they try really hard for it.

  • No. Get real.

Most people want to blame these corporations for their "damaging" products but the way I see it, you don't have to buy it. Everyone knows fast food is bad. If you wanna feed your kids that, it's your fault. Advertisers just want to make money. The ethics ship has sailed. They don't care, so it is up to the parents to be responsible.

  • Sorry, but no

While I do not want children exposed to this kind of advertising that is directed at them, I also know that it would not really matter. Children do not have cars and money, so its the parents that are letting their children eat this garbage. Also, this would introduce new regulations on businesses, and at some point it just becomes unnecessary. Honestly guys, it is your decision what you put in your mouth, so you can't complain that McDonalds makes people fat, because its those people that choose to be fat! Teach your children good eating habits people, the TV is not a babysitter!

  • Hold it now!

By taking away food from children would ruin cause a UN NECESSARY WORK AND ALLOT OF GOVERNMENT THINGS.

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING! JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT BANNED DOESN'T MEAN IT WILL MAKE PEOPLE FAT! FREAKING OWNED!

NOW COME AT ME WITH MORE OF THE STUPID "it will make children UN healthy" BECAUSE THAT'S THE ONLY THING ANY ONE SAYS!

    SO STFU HYPOCRYPTS
